Attention Tallahassee
... it's that time again! Drupal, Ice cream, food, drink and an all around fun and productive Tally Meetup. Last Month's meeting was great. The presentations went well and we had lots of laughs at Gordo's afterward. This month promises to be equally as fun and informative.

I'll be there
Looking forward to both presentations, especially the module development. But I must admit I don't know a lot about the Omega theme either.
If you haven't come out before, I highly recommend it. Good information, Great people and you would be hard put to find a more fun thing to do on a Wednesday night!
I plan on coming
As someone new to Drupal, this is a great group. I would be happy to share my thought's on Steve Krug's book "Don't Make Me Think" with the group - and even offer to do a presentation at the next Meetup.
Great Meetup!
Thank you for the opportunity to speak a little about getting started with Drupal module development. The people here make the group not only a great place to learn something new, but also to stand up and share knowledge and have discussions. I'll be glad to present again in the future.
Danny's presentation on Omega theme was also highly informative, and is worth looking into if you have an opportunity.
I look forward to hearing about next month's discussion on project ideas for the group.
Next meetup
I'm sorry I missed last night's meetup - but was working on a project deadline.
If you are interested, I could probably do a presentation next meeting (depending on date) based on on Steve Krug's book "Don't Make Me Think" - and actually do a usability demonstration on the Drupal site I am working to go live on September 15.
This would not be about Drupal as much as it is about usability and design.
Frank
Great presentations
I learned a lot from both of the presentations. Had a good time with good people. These meet ups provide a lot of open discussion. If you missed it, we will be doing it again with new topics next month.
A big thanks
A big thanks to last nights presenters, we have a great core group going here.
@fbroen - We may have already worked out next months agenda, but then again, maybe not. Either way it sounds like a presentation that the group will definitely get into. I'll be in touch via email and then we'll post details for the next meetup in a new thread.
Module development projects
I was very happy ya'll found my Omega presentation useful I hope it helps you out in your future projects, a lot of major websites are using the Drupal/Omega combo which is what attracted me to it. I also found Mike's presentation on module development very enlightening, and since the meeting I've been doing a lot of reading on the subject. I have found two modules out there that are in dire need of being ported from Drupal 6 to version 7, one of them is fairly simple and would be a good place for us to start. If we were successful in porting them over we would make a lot of drupal people happy and it would get us some recognition, this is something we can discuss at our next meeting.
Drupal at Making Awesome
Hey Y'all - I'm David Brightbill, an R&D guy during the workweek and a member at Making Awesome, Tallahassee's makerspace. Drupal comes into my life through work where I administer an Open Atrium install used as our ideas tracking system, and at Making Awesome, where we're using Drupal to run our website and hopefully one day, manage our membership.
I'm currently the only Drupalhead in the organization and my skills are not much past being an administrator. We're having a Drupal administration meetup this Wednesday evening at the space (119 Century Park Drive; off Pensacola, adjacent to TCC) and it would be particularly awesome if a guru or two showed up to set us straight.

Mini-hackathon - Making Awesome's Drupal site
We have a very basic Drupal 6.x site up for Making Awesome (http://www.makingawesome.org) on Jon Lyons server. We need to upgrade it to 7, fix the PayPal links for membership and donations, make the membership list useful (ex: include expiration date) and in general move it toward awesomeness.
We need to round up the folks who have taken an interest in the web site, local Drupal guru's, along with interested board members and pick a date to do a mini-hackathon to get this rolling. Here's a doodle poll with the possible dates: http://doodle.com/tk9hssmigemteyuq Please enter your name and pick a day and starting time. I'm thinking that this will be a one-day event lasting 4 to 6 hours. If we do it over the lunch our, I'll buy pizza. It could also be a two day event if people think that is appropriate.
We need coders, graphic artists, drupal folks, UX/QA, and linux gurus.
