Roadmap

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.
You are viewing a wiki page. You are welcome to join the group and then edit it. Be bold!

This is my attempt at a roadmap, please have at it. Concurrent with these phases, we need to recruit more contributors and keep simple notes during our work days to later expand into full guides.

1. Contribute desired recipes

There are a lot of popular features, featurettes, and install profiles that we can use as inspiration to build a core body of content.

2. Subsume pre-existing resources

There are lots of pre-existing resources that we can draw on. Some are great, but most are need a lot of updating. D.O has two or three sections that include site recipes, but it's a veritable rats nest.

3. Expand module lists into how-tos

Sometimes, a recipe may start as a list of modules. Eventually, these need to be expanded in to full guides.

4. Drupal 8

We will need to start adding Drupal 8 recipes sooner than later, though it will require some work on my end to allow recipes to address multiple versions of Drupal. Drupal 8 will be the driving force behind any print work resulting from our efforts.

5. Multimedia

Currently, the cookbook website is hypertext only. For our recipes to be competitive with other guides, we will need to incorporate screenshots, audio and video, and perhaps file attachments.

6. Go big

Once we've got a solid core and momentum, there are some fun ideas we can try out to create more content and build Drupal awareness:

  1. X-ray famous Drupal sites and try to re-build
  2. 100 days of recipes, or some such
  3. Build popular apps with Drupal
  4. Build rival CMS with Drupal (too far?)

5 is probably the biggest one for me,

i think multimedia is a must in this day and age.

people dont want to read. they want to see.

i think even before #1 there has to be an agreed upon format of recipies.

something Like:

Recipie Name

PreFace

Pre Requisits

  • Drupal Version
  • Modules
  • Themes

Presenters configuration

  • Operating System
  • Apache Version
  • Mysql Version
  • PHP Version
  • Anything Special

Good call! Also, sorry, I re-numbered the original post after your comment -- for the benefit of anyone who comes later: #1 was subsume pre-existing recipes, and #4 was multimedia.

I think you're spot on, we need a standard format before we really publish more, and I think your proposal is solid.
