CiviVolunteer is coming!

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

If you want to take a look at the new features in CiviCRM 4.4 or give the latest beta of CiviVolunteer a try, this screencast will show you how. While community media groups didn't help fund CiviVolunteer's development, I'm guessing this will be a addition to the core CiviCRM configuration at most stations. If CiviVolunteer doesn't do everything you want "out of the box", now would be a good time to discuss what features are missing and how community media groups can work collaboratively to make that happen.

So we are trying to figure out how to get groups more involved and realize that their participation (and $$$) is key to keep CiviCRM growing and thriving. However we've had some fairly spectacular failures with regard to funding any of these extensions.

CiviVolunteer is a classic example. Its recd rave reviews everytime and place we've demoed it. Folks talk about how badly this is needed, how they can use it as is (even with a limited feature set) etc. But, unfortunately among all these people, none of them seemed to have wanted to fund it

Obviously we can do better. I'm trying to figure out how can we change things, what should we do differently? CM is a fairly small group and hence posting here, hopefully we can figure out some answers sooner rather than later
