Hello, everyone!! I've bumped into Trevor a few times, and each time we say "when's the next meetup?!". I'm putting it out there now...any takers? No real topic in my mind, so suggestions would be great. If you want me to find a location, I can.

It would be great to see everyone!

I've been thinking about this

dalin's picture

I've been thinking about this too!

I was thinking that I could do a tutorial on image handling for today's web with responsive + retina + more.

Sonia, I'd still be interested in your "introduction to design fundamentals for the non-designer".

If I remember right we're due for a meet-up at the Niagara end ???

Dang, I was hoping you wouldn't remember that! ;)

Sure! How about I talk about how I come up with the general look and feel of a website (in an interactive way, if I can swing it). This could include the questions I ask, and the type of imagery I consider (photos, textures, abstract vs real, etc). It's kind of the same process I go through no matter what the thing is I'm designing (brochure, logo, sign, website...). Is that kind of what you were thinking, Dave?

I'd find that

I'd find that interesting.

Why don't we schedule something for the 3rd week in November?

Happy to offer my space if

adamwhite's picture

Happy to offer my space if needed, the Thursday of the 3rd week is booked however.

It would be nicer if we could find somewhere that serves beverages and use that. I'd suggest Mahtay Cafe in St. Catharines but they usually have musical events going on in the evenings.

Wifi necessary?

SoniaWilk's picture

Just wondering if WIFI is really necessary...I could put a presentation together via old school powerpoint. Or if I can find a way of doing my presentation in an interactive way (may not be time for that), then I'd be using Adobe anyway. Was the laptop large enough for people to see?

Dave, would you need the eeenter - iter - inter-net for yours? ;)

if not, then we could probably go just about anywhere. I looked up "wifi hotspots" and Montanas and another one just off the QEW came up, and Mahtay, as Adam mentioned. So not a lot of options there.

I can do a presentation

dalin's picture

I can do a presentation without wifi, no problem. And I think someone in the group has a projector (Trevor, Adam)? If so we could just project onto a wall.

The 3rd week is coming soon! If we're going to do this we need to pick a time and place. I can do any week night.

Time flies when dealing with

SoniaWilk's picture

Time flies when dealing with a deadline, and a sick kid. I've been trying to think of a place to hold the meeting in St Catharines, and am stumped (or brain-dead). It doesn't matter to me what night, although Thursdays are usually good (which would make it the 21st).

I'll be in better shape to think after Monday. Anyone else have any thoughts on a beverage lounge?

Sorry to say this week is a

SoniaWilk's picture

Sorry to say this week is a wash. What about next Thursday, the 28th? Or Wednesday? Still not sure where to go, either. There are numerous restaurants in St Catharines (which I figure is easier for those coming in from Hamilton). It's street parking there, but at 7:30ish I don't think it's too bad for parking. What about Merchant Ale House, on St Paul St? They have a basement we could go down to, away from the main crowd. https://www.facebook.com/themerchantalehouse.

Thoughts? If you really want for this Thursday - tomorrow - I could possibly throw together a wee presentation. (it's been brewing in the back of my head). Let me know.

I think this week is too late

dalin's picture

I think this week is too late to spread the word. But next week might work. Unfortunately the only day that works for me next week is Friday (partner is doing some 7am-7pm shifts).

Fridays don't work for me.

SoniaWilk's picture

Fridays don't work for me. What about Next week, December 5?

And can those that know St Catharines a bit better than I comment on the Merchant Ale House suggestion, or offer another alternative?

Next week works for me. I

Next week works for me.

I called the Merchant Ale house and unfortunately they don't take reservations on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday due to it being a bit sports night. :-P Any other suggestions?

Adam is your conference room free on the 5th? Then we can go elsewhere for food + drinks afterwards.

It's free. Depending on how

adamwhite's picture

It's free. Depending on how many people decide to turn our we could use that room or a smaller one upstairs in my actual offices. So either way we've got space.
