Help with site design at Coffee and Code?
I don't suppose anyone would have an interest in spending some time getting me onto the right path for Drupal site design? For the life of me, I can't seem to figure out the best way to go about creating a custom home page (Views, code hacking, etc.) and other landing pages. Lots of tutorials talk about the modules used, or how to use the modules, but I've just not found one that says here are the steps to make a page that looks like X, using these modules.
I have the basic concepts of site management down, installing modules, and how to get content into the site and manage that, it's just the whole customising portion I'm having issues with.

If you have a local development environment with your site set up bring that, if not that's cool I will have my laptop and we can go over using views, theme creation, modules, and site building.

Well, scheduling being what it is I now have a Wednesday night obligation for the rest of the winter. Thanks for the offer of help, but looks like I won't be able to take you up on it.
I have the Madison Drupal Users Group meeting on my calendar if it sticks to the monthly Thursday schedule, so I'll get a chance to ask some questions there. I'm good at figuring things out for myself, but in this case it looks like I just need a push in the right direction to get me started.
