This event is mainly to encourage open source technology enthusiasts in colleges in Kolkata. Join if you have either worked in open source technology or like to make a mark in this domain.
We will not be limited to Drupal. You can come and participate in the technology that you are interested in. Drupal enthusiasts are most welcome to come and share their experiences. Please bring in more people who share the same interests.

a good move. where is it being held? i am a drupal learner and i am very much interested to take part in this drupal event. as agree with sandip please more specific about the drupal topics. i have to take some guidance on "lamp-server installation in ubuntu 13 and how to install drupal and phpmyadmin in the lamp.
XAMPP and phpmyadmin

I think XAMPP server is also available for Ubuntu. You can install drupal on XAMPP. XAMPP, WAMP have phymyadmin already built in. I think LAMP also should have.
Have you tried to install it? What the problem going on? You can search in Google, so you do not have to wait and delay it for the event.
However, just a different question I am asking, I know it is not suitable here - have you tried to install Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver to install on Ubuntu?

thanks for your comments. actually i have tremendously familiar with xampp, wamp uniserver etc. but installing lamp-server through ubuntu terminal is very interesting. installing phpmyadmin through terminal is little bit tougher. after lots of configuration you can call phpmyadmin through localhost (http://localhost/phpmyadmin). I have done all these several times but there are some advanced QS. that is why I am interested to attend this event that i can have some guidance accordingly.
in my experience you have to install 'wine' in ubuntu for windows softwares to run. It is a very fantastic experience. but ubuntu has alternatives with strong features compare to windows software.
gedit / eclipse for Dreamweaver, gimp for adobe photoshop, shutter for snipping etc.

I guess this event is being organized privately. Anyway thanks to organizers for not keeping the update. It happened before also. In recent future I will try to organize an event on the open field with tent and will inform all participants to bring food accordingly. It will reduce the cost. Is it a good idea?

Venue: We are planning for a venue in Salt Lake Sector 5, I will confirm the address by tomorrow morning without fail.

@susan5in7, fine - food is not an issue. It is ok to make the event at minimum cost. Try to make good discussion and published this event all over the internet -like - Facebook, LinkedIn, Google groups etc - so that maximum participants will be there.
Open field with a tent? Please remember all participants will use Laptop (dust may effect in laptop). Having internet connection will be better and for long discussion, laptop charging may require.

thanks for the prompt response. eagerly waiting for the participation. please confirm the venue. not possible for two days but at least one day i will try to be there. food is not a problem here because discussions around drupal is a very strong food and it helps you to not to be hungrier for long time.

don't worry it is just my idea. when i will organize i will keep all these things in my mind. but open field is not a bad idea. point to be noted one funny thing; after my comment mukeshji immediately replies back. i guess he is being afraid of using his laptop in open field with dirt and dust. lol.

@susan5in7, I think you can ask all your students (even who are not using Drupal) to come and participate live discussion with some senior developers? This will be very encouraging to students and to know the power of technology.
I am sure that who does not use Drupal (or use other CMS or no CMS), they does not know, how by drupal it is easy to make a large enterprise level website with in a day by using distribution.
