UK Drupal Apprenticeship

Very pleased to announce that the we'll be helping with a Drupal Apprenticeship programme this year!

It will be run by Happy Computers: http://www.happy.co.uk/happy-computers/ and will form a recognised qualification: An 'Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web & Telecoms Professionals'.

This is the second year the programmes has run, in 2013 it was started with some fantastic work from Computer Minds. And we now have the opportunity to build on this by helping develop a curriculum for a two week pre-apprenticeship training programme which will run from 17th February, and finish to co-inside with DrupalCamp London, where the Apprentices will attend and meet placement companies. Work has been started on this in a Google Drive document, but there is still much more to do.

The programme is aimed at 16-18 year olds and will last 1 year during which time the apprentices will be placed in Drupal companies. There is also a £1,500 government grant available to companies, providing they have fewer than 1,000 employees.

I'll be trying to organise regular Hangouts (probably on Fridays) to talk more about how we can help, check back here for more details of these, and please come and join!
