Hey I finally got around to joining this group and just wanted to post a quick introduction. Looking through the member list I recognize a few of you. I met Chris Shattuck and Jeremy Zerr at Boise Code Camp last year after attending their sessions. James Glasgow also put on a module building presentation last year that I enjoyed. If my memory serves me correctly I attended a presentation that Clint Tinsley did on CakePHP the year before that.

Anyhow, about me... I live in Star, ID with my wife and 2 boys. Graduated from BSU in 2013. I'm the lead web developer at Western Power Sports (wps-inc.com) and we run a bunch of Drupal 7 sites in a multi-site configuration hosted on a fleet of load-balanced autoscaling instances on AWS. Pretty neat stuff because we can scale the fleet based on demand and all the static content (images, JS, CSS) get pushed to S3 using the AWS PHP SDK via a node_save hook and then subsequently served out through a CloudFront CDN. So basically our Drupal instances can scale horizontally without any consideration for its public file system. The Drupal instances are merely workers. If anyone is curious maybe we can chat more about it in person.

I decided in 2014 I'd like get more involved in the local webdev community. I'm hoping to attend some meetups, share knowledge and best practices, and learn and grow my skillset. I'm an introverted, anti-social geek who needs to get out more. Look forward to meeting more like-minded individuals.

Hey Austin! It's good to see you again!

Definitely consider coming to Jeremy's talk tonight to start connecting with the community: http://www.meetup.com/boisewebtechs/events/156184572/ .

Also, now we have the ProPeople office along with the awesome PropPeople people for meetups. I haven't been able to attend lately, but it's a great place (with a ping pong table) and the folks that work there are really nice. Cameron has been putting up the events on groups.drupal.org and he's always looking for ideas or folks to present. Definitely consider pitching in if you're interested.

Hopefully we'll be seeing more of you down the road. Thanks for reaching out!

Cheers!
Chris
