Verify on custom platform "can't change permissions to 751"

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

While logged in as o1.ftp (SSH) I've added a custom platform under /static using drush make. I then changed permissions to 775 for /static/myplatform and 775 -R for /static/myplatform/sites per https://omega8.cc/how-to-add-custom-platform-properly-140. I then added this platform in the Aegir control panel leaving the makefile path blank per Matt Petrowsky's video.

I created a site and all seems okay. However when I run "Verify" the log shows, "...chmod to 751 failed on /data/disk/o1/static/myplatform/sites" and for /sites/all.

My question, Is this normal? It seems like it must be given o1.ftp owns the files and o1 is trying to run the verify. But, does this mean Aegir isn't able to fully verify my platform? I really need to be able to trust the sites I create.

Thanks!

Safe to ignore these warnings

See this issue in the octopus issue queue.

It seems that after the first run of /var/xdrago/daily.sh the permissions should be fixed automatically, but these warnings are safe to ignore in any case.

These tasks didn't fail. The warnings you see are not errors, and are safe to ignore. If you have followed our docs and you have made both the platform root directory ~/static/platform and its subdirectory ~/static/platform/sites group writable, it is OK.

These not harmful warnings were always logged in custom platforms, just unnoticed, because previously Aegir didn't mark any task with that yellow icon if there were any warnings in the task log, but now it does, as explained in this thread: http://drupal.org/node/1929372

These directories are expected to be owned by Aegir system user and not your FTP/SSH user nor restricted only for the web server user, hence the warning, but the system will fix the ownership and permissions there every morning.

We plan to undo this Aegir feature in the next BOA release, since it causes too much confusion with zero benefit.

Thanks ar-jan

Thanks ar-jan for the quick reply.
BOA is a wonderful, but complex, universe. I've found the hard way that ignorance is seldom bless, so never hurts to ask the experts!
All of you who take a minute to answer our questions are greatly appreciated.
