The first Twin Cities Drupal Open House is coming up this Saturday, March 1st! Unlike Drupal camps and 'cons, this is an unconference event. What happens on Saturday will be what the people who show up want to happen. That means you get to decide what you talk about, learn and share. A group of us will be facilitating to make sure that your agenda gets addressed -- whoever you are and whatever your level of Drupal expertise.
To get and keep a head of steam on Saturday, It will be very helpful to get a head start on listing what it is people want to get out of the day. So, let's fill this thread with your thoughts. Add a comment to note what you want to learn, a burning question you have, something you'd love to share (even if it's just a single sentence about something you know), a frustration or idea that strikes you... Doesn't need to be a manifesto and no one is going to pin you to your topic on Saturday. Just have at it. And, everyone, +1 posted ideas that resonate with/for/to you.
After at least 3 ideas are posted, I'll chime in with mine. See you on Saturday!

Awesome!
Great topics, Steve. I know we've kibitzed about some of those ideas before. It would be great to have you there given your perspective on all of this. So, if the snow is daunting I plan to contact the winner of the Birkebeiner to skijour you to LynLake in time for D'OH.

A Drupal Newbie!
I am currently studying the book "Drupal 7 Explained." I have been doing web design/development for 10 years and finally decided it was time to take a good look at Drupal. I'm impressed with the power and potential I'm seeing being just little over half way through the book. I plan to be a learning sponge on Saturday and I'm not going to list any particular topics right now. I look forward to meeting this Drupal clan.
I'm driving up from Owatonna and hoping for good weather.

Hope for No Snow - then, for sure, I'll show!!!
Looking very forward to this --
All the topics look great - One I would like to add:
Drupal and SEO: Do your customers ask you about getting found? How do you respond? What do you actually do development-wise?
I ask this because the seo's all talk wordpress -- how do we make drupal a part of their vocabulary?
here is a link to last week's MN Network of SEO's workshop to share:

Excited to come to the open
Excited to come to the open house. A number of topics already listed sound great, and I'd also be interested in discussing and learning more about:
-Improving Drupal documentation
-How to build a good contrib theme--not a base theme, but a solid out-of-the-box option.
More ideas
So far I want to participate in every discussion listed. Here are some I'd like to suggest as well:

Theming and front-end
I'd be interested in talking about various theming and front-end topics:
Also would be great to have some discussion on getting involved with core development, in terms of what tools you need to get started, important core concepts and an overview of different ways you can help out.
I've been getting started working with Phpstorm, and if others use Phpstorm it would be nice to maybe take some time to go through some of the features. I haven't taken a lot of time to watch tutorials, and I'm sure there's a lot I don't know that could save a bunch of time.
Theming and Drush
I'm interested in talking about all things theming, and especially changes in D8 with Twig.
Also, would like to connect with anyone who wants to discuss Drush. Set-up, best practices...
Peter S
Twig
I've been working on a number of Twig patches and wrote up an explanation of Twig recently, so I think that would be a great topic. And if anybody wants to try making some patches related to Twig, I'd be glad to lend a hand.
I +1d Steve and Barry for
I +1d Steve and Barry for discussions about hosting environments, content management strategies, and meeting the needs of end users.
My Topics
I'd like to unconference on:
1- Responsive Theming for Drupal
2- Responsive Menus
3- SEO
4- Hosting and optimization
See you tomorrow Wylbur
And maybe we can have a chat about your hosting issues.

Last-Minute Suggestions
Of the topics already discussed, I'm most interested in:
* Twig & D8 theming - Seeing it in action.
* Open Atrium 2 - People familiar with OA1 seem frustrated by OA2's interface. Valid concerns?
* CiviCRM vs. RedHen (vs. other CRM options?)
If anyone is interested in a bit of mentoring, there is a bug in migrate that I'm tempted to tackle as my first Drupal bugfix contribution. Solving it could resolve the one critical priority bug listed for commerce migrate. It involves testing for when a migration map table falls out of sync with the migration class's needs, then alerting the user before the migration does something unfortunate. The problem and solution seem pretty straight forward, conceptually; I'd love to chat with some knowledgeable folks about whether I'm biting off more than I can chew.
