For those who has been around in the Internet world in Malaysia long enough ..must have known S***** . Myself and Azhar had a meeting with them yesterday. Although they have their own CMS, they are considering Drupal (or other open sourse CMSs) in their effort to promote and support open source projects and communities-based projects in Malaysia.

good opportunities
Raja, why don't you join the group first :-) Cukupkan korum ...
Anyway, It all started with Azhar. I leave it him to tell the story about what had happened with Drupalmalaysia.org.
I have known Skali back in Year 2000, when I was proposing something similar. But didn't kickoff, as I was busy with other stuff.
This time, we met Roslan (Senior VP) and Shukri (Exec) at MTDC, UPM. They both seems supportive.
They know little about Drupal nor they are planning to invest their time/resources to digg Drupal.

i am already signed in to this group.
wrt to skali, it needs to be a formal business proposition. most importantly that drupal has the right features (multi-language and multi-site is good) and you have the right people and resources. the proposition also needs to have specific situations where drupal has a competitive advantage, eg for organic community sites.

yes, but ...
I am not so sure about this. I hope we have more people and expertise in Drupal before we are going into this, so can establish something like a consortium or something. First, let's get any drupal developer to join this group, then we meet up, conduct technical traning/share know-how, then formulate our position and then business proposition.
From the drupal.org, ramai yang "from Malaysia". Dunno how active and how good these people are. So far, I know only chelah@drupal.org contributed a module called "Dripts" which I want to look into. Anybody else out there ...

Psssttt could you change this to S****
I am afraid they will be unconfortable if the bigwigs at the top know about this before anything is official
We planned to promote the brand later, for now they leave it to us to prove Drupal capabilities and what I can do (shall they agree to appoint me and/or others) to get the outsource jobs
get more to use drupal
yes. please get more to use drupal! it would be great to have a local community to be able to contact each other to improve development. i am sure there are a lot of php/mysql programmers out there that would love to tinker with drupal.

Assalamualaikum
Thank you for being generous to DrupalMalaysia.org - its down again for reaching the limit of outbound emails (using Drupal mail.module)
http://drupalmalaysia.org.my is on - it is meant to be the front of Malaysian Drupalists and we are planning to build community portals and corporate websites using Drupal
I am not supposed to reveal about this acquiantance with S***** yet so Najib, I hope you can edit the name as per request of Shukri
The idea is that they outsource the community portals to Drupalmalaysia.org.my which is registered with my name
Future project includes - the Bumiputra ICT Entrepreneurs - teach them how to use Drupal and web applications
As I am writing this (accessing Internet via wireless connection available at De Palma Hotel Sepang :) I am having a Team Building programme going so I cant write properly
Next week Insya Allah I will visit the nice guys again (the first visit I went home at 9pm after resolving the .org.my and it went public that night, cool)
