Greetings, all. I'm coming up to Pittsburgh a few weeks and I'd love to meet up with some local Drupal geeks. I'm Ryan Price (@liberatr) of the Drupal Easy podcast. You may recognize me from DrupalCon DC or Paris, DrupalCamp Chicago 2010, or Do It with Drupal 2008. Down here in Florida I've worked with Popular Science and Bonnier, and now I do Drupal Training for small groups or companies that want to hire us, with my partner Mike (@ultimike).
I will be staying with friends, but I'm interested to talk to people and find out what the scene is like. Maybe we can grab a beer or some coffee one day. I will have a car, so I should be able to get around, even though I'm sure the snow will suck. I have driven in snow before, and that was an interesting winter.
Pluses: Local food, good microbrews, getting to meet any grad students from CMU.
We're actually putting together a Florida DrupalCamp February 20th-21st, if anyone wants to get out of he cold for a few days.

Linux Users Group Topic Saturday Jan 9 is Drupal
Hi Ryan,
You didn't say when you will arrive, but it would be terrific if you could attend the Linux Users Group meeting this Saturday morning Jan 9 in Regent Square (Actually Wilkins School Community Center) right off the Parkway East at Edgewood/Swissvale exit.
I had proposed to talk with my friend Bob McFarland about our experience using Drupal to build our church's web sites. Actually, we are barely getting started. I am sure you could really enhance the talk by giving us some ideas. The shells we have are at zioncc.us and oasiscoffee.org. I was not afraid to propose the talk, being a rank amateur myself, because I intend to talk about what we have learned as novices in the past 3 months (basically since shortly before the Ohio Linux Fest). I had hoped to walk through the LAMP install in ubuntu, the MySQL setup, the Acquia Drupal install, a theme install and a module install. That plus discussion will fill our hour pretty well.
When I proposed the talk, I made the caveat that it depended on my out of town work schedule, which turned out to be more intense than I had expected. (I am now in Fukuoka Japan on an 18 month assignment - not related to Drupal).
Undaunted, somebody at WPLUG scheduled me for the talk anyway. Bob agreed bravely to step into the gap. I had hoped to work on a presentation while here in Japan, but I was targeting the Feb 13 meeting so preparation time is now limited. If you come to the meeting, I will boldly claim that we brilliantly saved the day for this topic and the meeting will be a raging success.

At tonight's user group we decided to meet both Saturday and Monday if Ryan is available.
The primary meeting will be on Monday 1/25 at 5 PM at Nikkio and Spyderboy's workplace. This will allow Ryan to meet the other workers there. We will go to dinner after a tour of their workplace. We have 4 people confirmed to be there.

I will not be able to meet on Saturday, but Mark Frey and Bob McFarland would like to meet then.

Saturday wouldn't work for me
Saturday wouldn't work for me - that's just when I'm getting in. I think during the week will work fine. If Mark and Bob come to DrupalCon SF, I know I will be there. I think I am pretty committed to hitting Design 4 Drupal in June as well.
We will be staying with friends, and my girlfriend will be around, and I know at some point I will be getting a tour of CMU - other than that, this Drupal meetup will be a high point of my time in Pittsburgh, I'm sure!

Interesting article about Features:
Features basically allows you to package drupal 'Exportables' into re-usable 'Features'. So anything that allows Export/Import (Views, Taxonomy, etc) could be part of a Feature, in theory.
