So some people are planning to cycle to Amsterdam for Drupalcon.

It's perhaps a little far to cycle all the way from the West of Ireland to Amsterdam, but Gavin is going to give it a shot.
I'm going to cheat just a little, and do the trip with a combination of train and bike. I plan to make my way across England and Wales over 3 days, with a good few train sections thrown in for good measure. We'll meet up somewhere before the ferry at Harwich, and hopefully meet the bigger Tour De Drupal gang along the way too.
My current plan to to overnight near Wolverhampton and Cambridge along the way.

Gary is thinking of giving it a shot

There a lot of options for people, even if you're not a big cyclist. Flying to Stansted, and going from there might even work. Even just the trip from Hook of Holland to Amsterdam perhaps.

So is anyone else considering this?

Gavin that is a particularly stellar adventure you are embarking on, fair play.

Info coming soon

Great to hear you're coming over, and meeting the UK groups on the way. It should make for quite the trip!

I'm a nervous early-booker based in Oxfordshire, so I've been looking into a few travel options; I've passed any info I got onto the TdD site maintainers.

There's apparently something coming in the next few days on the TdD site, which should hopefully include all the relevant info, so do watch that space, or the Twitter feed.

Preferred day?

Oh btw if anyone has a preferred arrival day at Harwich then do let us know and we can feed it into the vast banks of our underground ERNIE machine to make the decision.

As a reference point, in order to arrive refreshed on Monday morning for the pre-con sprints, we'd need to leave Harwich on either the Saturday night or (pushing it a bit) Sunday morning.

Hi JP
Myself and Gavin have already booked in for the Saturday night sailing - Gary will be on that one too, all going well.

The current plan is to arrive in Holyhead around 11 on Thursday morning, heading west towards Bangor or a little further, before taking a train down to Shrewsbury, and continuing on the bike to Wolverhampton.

I'll post more details and maps etc, as they get finalised.

Regards
Alan
