Please Help ... Want to Come Back Home to Seattle!

Calvin Ryu's picture

Hi,

I am trying desperately to land a Junior Drupal Developer job in Seattle but having no luck finding any Jr. Drupal Dev jobs in Seattle! Can someone tell me how I can go about finding a Junior level Drupal job in Seattle?

Currently, I am near Boston, MA ("MASS"). I am attending the only official Drupal "Bootcamp" in the U.S. It is an intensive 8-Week DRUPAL Boot Camp in Woburn, MA ... www.techbootcamps.com. I used to be a software test engineer and also Agile-SCRUM Certified. When I found out about the Drupal Bootcamp, I packed up all my belongings and drove from the West Coast to Boston to attend the boot camp. Upon graduation, I will be a junior level drupal developer and will be awarded a certificate (recognized by Dries Buytaert). Right now, I am studying PHP and building my portfolio website using drupal 7. I have no prior drupal or coding experience. However, being a drupal developer will be the career I will stay with for the rest of the duration. So, I am determined and serious about getting into the drupal world in Seattle. Thus, please help? Any suggestions or direction you can provide?

Thank you so kindly,

Calvin Ryu

Added directions

Hi Everyone,

The meeting is located in the Commons space in the NW Worklofts at 3131 Western Ave. When you are facing the building, go down the stairs on the right. Then it's first door on your left - Suite 303.

Boat Street Cafe is located here as well, if that's a landmark for some of you.

There is metered street parking in the area. The meters do run until 8:00 now.

See you Thursday!

I will be there.

I attended the Tuesday meeting in Queen Ann for first time to meet some developers and find some help to manage/improve/update our website as well as offer an air conditioned space in Eastside for future meetings, but time was limited and did not get to do so.

Would you need some space for next meeting to be held in Eastside? Anyone interested in entertaining the help?

Thanks,

Robert Clark

Eastside

I'm all for an eastside meetup. Getting into Seattle is hard thus I don't attend most SeaDUG meetings.

I might be interested in providing some support for your website, send me some details.

No on the Eastside for me.

Eastside location

As an Eastsider that works in Seattle, I would be up for a Eastside location. I think it would need to be Bellevue, as opposed to all the way in Redmond/Issaquah so it's more accessible to others. It's much easier to get to the Eastside during rush hour vs. into Seattle.

Fuse IQ only signed up to host the meeting for 3 months to see what people thought of the location and that would be up after September meeting. Certainly we can host future meetings, but I'm sure Jared and Rick would entertain other locations as well.

Since I'm coming from Bainbridge Island, I don't think I'll be able to attend many meetings on the East side.

Long time no hear....

Hey Marc,

This is Don with Freelock, was account manager when Mitch was doing the PM stuff, now I'm on all that good work. Small world running into you on here. See you're still doing work with the Island org, great to hear! I'll have to catch up with you soon.

Just joined this group (long overdue). Too bad you won't be able to make it. Erin and I had discussed going to one together.

Best,

Don

Adding a new mtg?

RockSoup's picture

Maybe this is a chance to add another meeting? We typically meet in Seattle on the 3rd Thursday of the month for the user group meeting, maybe meeting on the 1st Thursday would be a good time to meet on the Eastside. I know Portland has a few organized gatherings each month, one focused on coworking and another on front end as well as the formal monthly user group meeting. Maybe this would be a good way to test the waters to see how an eastside meetup might work?

Robert - Rick set up a new thread for this, let's move the conversation over there so it's not lost in here.
