A few of us had a quick meeting yesterday to discuss the upcoming Apprenticeship programme in London, here are some notes:
A big headline is that we'll be using GitHub issue tracking to track issues and todo's related to the curriculum and the upcoming platform. We've added an issue tracker here: https://github.com/OpenDrupal/opendrupal/issues
The Apprenticeship
- The next Apprenticeship programme could start as soon as mid-October in London.
- We are helping by building a website to promote the Apprenticeship, which is nearly ready, we'll need to finish this by early September.
- More companies are needed to commit to taking on apprentices, we should highlight that apprentices are not as resource-intensive as they might think over the period of a year, and they can pay for themselves quickly.
The Curriculum
- We should include more structure for the upcoming two week pre-apprenticeship training.
- There are opportunities for (paid) training / mentoring roles.
- We should provide more comprehensive instruction to mentors.
