We are planning to build site that includes Social Networking, Educational Media, and an Online Store.
I see that http://goingon.com is a Drupal site that does social networking. Is this the premier Drupal site doing social networking right now? Does anyone know how much customization is required beyond plugging in available modules is required to create something like GoingOn? Are there other Drupal sites as developed or more developed in social networking than GoingOn?
I would appreciate any information or thoughts on this.

Drupal Search is great!
Hey sevenahm,
Great question. You'll find that many in the Drupal community think like you and, most likely, have already thought like you. Nine times out of ten when I use the convenient search box in the upper-right of the page, the results reveal that to be the case.
Or, perform the search yourself by typeing "goingon" in the search box and clicking "search". I'm sure you'll find the information that you're looking for in some of the previous discussions. If not, ask your question more specifically and I'm sure others will be happy to supply the answers.
Network module OR OG?
I see that the strength of Goingon.com is Networks (I think it is groups)
Is there a module named network? What is the different, if exist, between og (organic group) like we have the privilege to use here (thanks Drupal.org) and network like in goingon
I see also that the user icons / avatars / pictures are ever present here in groups.drupal.org and goingon - what module is that, or if I remember, there is PHP snippet available to do this
Opppsss, silly me, the user pic in the side block is available with OG :)
Thank you
