Hey All,
I was wondering if there was still any interest in a Drupal Meetup in Knoxville? I live in Lenior City, and would highly enjoy meeting with other local Drupal enthusiasts.
If we could get around 5-10 people together we could have a really good base for a meet-up I believe (I would even enjoy a small group, just having someone locally would be quite nice). It would be a neat project to perhaps build a website for the Group as a group, and perhaps do some rotating lesson plans (Someone different provides a "lesson" at each meetup).
As far as location, while a coffee shop with wifi would be ordeal, I don't believe Knoxville has any LAN centers. Perhaps a bookstore would work, i.e Carpe Librum out on Kingston Pike.

Yes, there is interest. Several of us work at University of Tennessee, which just started the spring semester yesterday, so things a bit hectic right now. Let's aim for later this month or early Feb. Any suggestions on a meeting place, day or time??

I'd say you guys are having a great time indeed :)
I'll make some calls to a few local places, some bookstores and the like, and see what kind of space we can get, free would be preferable of course. I'll post in the next few days.
Also, I will be starting college this upcoming fall, and while I will most likely spend my first two years at a Community college for my base credits, I was wondering about the quality of the web design/programming/etc. courses there at UT. Would you recommend them, or perhaps ITT Tech, or someplace similar?.

I wonder how many people could be pulled together to attend. I'm relatively new to the area and, as such, know absolutely no one and definitely no one in this group. A good social situation would be great!

I think 10 or more could actually be doable, especially if some of the members here who work at U.T put up some fliers. Simply need a good place to meet with that large of a group (some place with wifi would be ideal).
I've been in Cincinnati, Ohio all weekend long; I'll be making calls around tomorrow.

Feb 2 - Ground Hog Day Meet-up
We were thinking about a Ground Hog Day Meet-up - Tuesday, February 2, starting 5:30 or 6 PM some place in Downtown Knoxville or Beardon. WiFi would be a definite plus. The Mellow Mushroom on Cumberland is a possibility (and $2 drafts on Tuesday). And we can put a message out on some of the UT listservs, for those who haven't joined the Knoxville group as yet.

Hey this is great, thank you for taking the initiative on a group meet up like this Cindy.
Ill be there as soon as possible, it might be edging on 5:45 - 6 depending on traffic.
