Following up from last month...
Sorry for the HUGE delay in posting this info from last month's group meeting. For those of you who missed it, we discussed the current state of the Orlando Drupal Group and what we can do going forward to improve participation.
Attendance has been sparse over the past several months. While we’ve had some shake-up with regards to event location and week day, those were (presumably) resolved a few months ago as we settled on Monday nights at the Orlando Public Library. This space has plenty of room to accommodate our group, at least at the present participation levels. That being said, we need to determine if our current location/time is a factor in current group turn out.
A few suggestions from our last meeting:
Polling our Meetup.com members as to what they would like to see at upcoming DO meetings
Focusing our outreach efforts on attracting interest for the upcoming DC Orlando
“Cross pollination” of all Drupal Orlando news and events:
Drupal.org
Facebook page
Twitter feed
any others?
Posting a list of future meeting topics months in advance in order to attract interest in attending. Some suggestions were:
Setting up a Drupal Commerce site
Drupal theming (dissecting and discussing how to alter an existing theme. creating a sub-theme)
Modules in particular:
Features module - use of (Alex)
Views
Display Suite
Backup and Migrate
Drupal Career-oriented
Aquia certification - what is point of the program? what is on test? Is it worth it? what did you do to prepare for it? Are there reference materials for it? (Alex)
Talking about Drupal University with Mike Anello
Getting Drupal jobs (locally and otherwise)
How to become a Drupal developer? (Andrew / Mike)
Drupal Project management (what does it take to be one?)
Developer tools and best practices
Setting up Drush (installation, configuration)
Git
Composer (David Barrett)
Headless Drupal
Drupal Project management
Setting up a web hosting account (manually or using Acquia, etc.)
This is – by no means – a complete list. Rather, it was a loose brainstorming session among those of us who attended. It would probably be wise for us to address the group (see “polling” suggestion above) and prioritize based on group feedback. Please join the discussion!

Orlando Drupal Group
I am an occasional Drupal user with limited abilities in Drupal. I think posting the topic before the meeting would be great as there are some topics that would interest me, but many others are too far above me.
Thanks for the input!
sbgranny,
Thanks for the input!
We're looking to set a topic for next Monday's meeting. Based on the list of topics above – or maybe not on that list – what would you like to see?

So do you want to present a "Setting up Drush" session?
Also, maybe Robert can give us the lowdown on what he saw at DC ATL last weekend? (if he's coming on Monday)

Unfortunately I didn't have time to put together a session (very busy week / weekend) but that could be a good topic for next month.
In the meantime what's on the docket for tonight?
Can't make it tonight
Hi guys,
I got a nasty cold over the weekend, and do not want to infect the rest of the Drupal community. I won't be able to make it tonight.
However, I would be happy to present something at next month's meet up.
