I want to build an Entity of a Content type I created with Field Collections.

The correct thing to do is turn it into an Entity?

Not really clear...

Hi @stuckupstate,

I'm afraid your question is not very clear and would probably need more information:

I want to build an Entity of a Content type I created with Field Collections.

What are you trying to build? A new Content type with a Field Collection field?
An Entity with a Field Collection field? A Content type with a referenced Entity?

In general, it really helps giving concrete examples and more particularly, explaining what you would be trying to achieve (Naming things helps: Content type A, Entity B, Field Collection C, the kind of fields and perhaps some background about why you would be doing this).

If you could maybe provide a little bit more information, we would probably be able to answer more efficiently and constructively, hopefully allowing you to move forward with your configuration.

Lastly, I would like to mention that you might be able to find more help and much quicker by trying to connect with the Drupal community on IRC, for example in the channels #drupal-support or #drupal, where others would be able to narrow down your problem in real time (I am usually connected as DYdave).

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Cheers!

Sorry for the lacking details.

I apologize for lack of info.

I was on IRC right after I posted that but still think I found some info that'll help me. I'm trying to build an Entity. I've already built a Content type and want to reproduce it using the Entity API.

Care to share back some more?

Glad you were able to find some help on IRC to keep moving forward.

If you were able to find a solution or anything that you would find relevant or interesting to share with others, like tips or problems you encountered during the process, we would greatly appreciate if you could please share back with the community by posting your comments in this discussion.

Don't hesitate to tell us more about how you managed to reproduce your Content type using the Entity API. It could certainly be useful to others who might have the same requirements in the future.

Thanks in advance!

Info found but choosing way to go.

I first went back and planned out the data type itself. Can't go any where without a basic plan. I then found ways to do it with Embedded Field Collections or Entity Reference but can't decide which was is more efficient or just better for some reason unknown to me?
