Hi all.
Another week has rolled by and as we said we'd try and keep these meetups going fortnightly, that means it's time to plan another drupal drinks!
How about Thursday?
I was thinking we could try the Abbotsford on Rose St this time?
(For a discussion of pubs to try, see here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/44612 -- the Canon's Gait last time was pretty good, but we figured we'd keep going through different pubs until we either find one we really like, or settle on a few we rotate between).
As it's walking distance for me, I might bring my laptop and I could showcase a thing or two (maybe Views 3?), if that's something that interests people.
We need to plan our bigger events: a charity sprint, and a camp. Or both together? (as was done in Ireland, see http://drupal.org/node/427410 ). There are no definite plans yet, so it's all up for discussion -- and plans will be made by those who show up! :)

This time!!
Having been to just one meet up I've all but sunk without trace ...
But barring radical unforeseen circumstances or another car breakdown (increasingly likely) I will make it this time!!!
Nick.
Anyone got an old laptop they want to ditch?
OK, this is a "just in case" - maybe someone is out there with an old laptop you want to get rid of and will be there on Thursday ...
I'm looking for a cheap (and I mean CHEAP!) but old laptop for my 9-year-old son to use.
He lives with his mum and she won't let him do any programming on their computer (I understand her reluctance!) which means he only gets to use python and autoit when he's with us. (So far it's just those two but the way he's going he'll have a good handle on PHP, HTML, CSS, SQL and JQuery by the time he's 10.)
So what I'm after is something OK enough to run autoit and python, so needs some flavour of windows - I imagine 2000 or later - but no network and won't need to connect to the Internet (in fact better if he can't) etc. It would really need a USB port (v1 is fine). Wouldn't need much disk space or memory.
The idea is that he can take it home and not worry about trashing it - I'd recover it the next time he's with us.
Thanks, Nick.
Is this happening tonight?
Is this happening?
I'll be driving from Clackmannanshire so it's a bit far to come to find nobody there!
Cheers,
Nick

So far you're the only one to respond... snufkin said on IRC he'd try to make it but IIRC said he is feeling a bit ill :/
Maybe we should postpone?

OK, It would take about an hour to get there so if there's any more response and I see here that it's on in time to not be too late I'll come.
Else next time!
Maybe fortnightly is too ambitious? - Don't turn up and the next is only a couple of weeks away and it might feel a bit too frequent.
If it were every 3 or 4 weeks then might the average numbers go up? Also alternating days might mean that someone with a regular commitment on one of the days would come on the other one. May lead to a bit of confusion though.
i will be there

Its on then
OK, unless explicitly cancelled now that means it's on and I'll be there.
Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is:

Is there an established way to find each other if there's nobody there we actually recognise?

I'll bring my laptop in case we feel like doing demos of stuff, though doesn't look like it has wifi.
