Create Contact during Commerce Checkout process

Has anyone developed code to enable the creation of Contacts (Individuals or Organisations) during the commerce checkout process?

Hi Glenn,

we've built a similar thing with campaignion to create contacts based on webform submissions. Perhaps you could (re)use one part or the other from that. Basically it is a system that can import contact data from any key-value-store like data source.

Adapting that for commerce would mean to wrap the checkout data into key-value interface and then perhaps factor out the import-module so that it can be used (more) independent of campaignion.
