1 of 155 Drupal 8 Release Parties

According to Drupical - http://www.drupical.com/

There are currently 155 Drupal 8 release parties planned around the world happening on November 19th (or within a day or two either way). They are happening on all 6 warm weather continents (I'm not seeing anything in Antartica yet). I'm willing to bet that our will be among the top 5 funnest and best attended parties in the world (maybe #1)!

I'm predicting at least 30 folks will show up for our local party - but would not be surprised to see 40 or more. I'm hearing from some folks that we haven't seen for a while even a few friends or colleagues that might show up.

Think about all the friends and family who will be thrilled to celebrate the end of hearing about the "upcoming release of Drupal 8." They deserve a beer (or soda)!

We have the party room "Hay Loft" reserved at Urban Growler (http://www.urbangrowlerbrewing.com/) with our own bar tender. There are rumors that some board games will be happening. It will be a cash bar.

In addition to their fine list of craft beers (Pumpkin Saison, Candy Corn Imperial Cream Ale, Lemongrass Wheat, Cowbell Cream Ale®, and several others), the Urban Growler serves a nice assortment of burgers and sandwiches - and also offers soda for the non-beer drinkers. http://www.urbangrowlerbrewing.com/food/

If you have any other ideas or suggestions on how we can fully celebrate this historic (escalating the rhetoric) release, over 5 years in the works, please let us know.

Please help us spread the word about the party AND that Drupal 8 has FINALLY arrived!

Some *random*ideas for the event

Show Drupal Cat videos (is there such a thing?)
Wear (Drupal) blue clothing (or your TCDrupal t-shirts)
Do a Google hangout with another release Party(s)
Add blue dye to the beer

That's over an hour away on public transit for me, so I'd need a ride.

Will not make it

Sorry, but will not make tonight's celebration -- I'll be home drinking with you in spirit!

TODAY is the big day!

Drupal 8 Release Party
Urban Growler Brewing Company
2325 Endicott Street, St. Paul, MN
6:30pm - 9:30pm

A few last minute details.

1) The party room is available at 6:30, but the Urban Growler is open at 11:00am. You can't arrive too early. Some of us will be there as early as 5:30 for the pre-party downstairs.

2) Twin Cities Drupal Camp has pitched in $500 towards food and beverages. If you arrive early enough, your first beverage is free. We've also ordered a limited amount of appetizers. You can also order of the regular menu: http://www.urbangrowlerbrewing.com/food/

3) Drupal shops/vendors, please feel free to bring stickers and swag. I know that Drupalize.me will have some cool stickers to hand out. We may also have a few door prizes.

4) Someone please make sure that Tess gets a ride. It won't be a Drupal 8 party without her!
Reach her at = @socketwench

5) We're expecting a pretty decent crowd for what may turn out to be the Drupal social event of the year (other than Drupal Camp, of course).

6) Trivia: As of 2:10pm this afternoon, there are 208 Drupal 8 release parties planned around the world! http://www.drupical.com/

Great fun - huge success!

stpaultim's picture

Big thanks to everyone who came last night and made our Twin Cities Drupal 8 Release party such a big success. Attendance was higher than expected - we reached about 50+ participants.

We got to see folks that we don't usually see outside of Drupal Camp and met some new people coming for the very first time!

There were board game, slides shows, door prizes, Drupal 8 cake, a surprise visit by Mr. Drupal 8 himself, feathered boas, and lame jokes by Drew Gorton and Matthew Tift. What more could we expect.
