I'll be presenting about Ubercart for the May meetup and am working on creating the agenda. Are there any other items that anyone would like to officially have on the agenda? Please let me know by the end of the day on Tuesday if you can.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Drupal development work

Hi, Jeremy,

Newbie here. Is it appropriate to announce: I need a quote from drupal developer to work on an existing site.

Thanks, Jim Thomas, 208.841.6393

Jim Thomas, Boise

Looks like you found the Create a Job link

Jim,
Looks like you found the Create a Job link, that's the right place for a job announcement to reach the group. Coming to the meeting would be a great opportunity to meet quite a few Drupal developers, ask some questions, and maybe even get some ideas too. See you there.
Thanks, Jeremy

May 26th Meeting Report

We were a little light on attendees with 7 present, 3 of which were new to the group which was very cool.

One of the new attendees, Jim Thomas reminded us that he is looking for a local Drupal Developer for take over the work on an existing Drupal site.

Jeremy Zerr gave us an excellent slide presentation on Ubercart - One Cart to rule them all. Jeremy has been using Ubercart for developing eCommerce websites for over 2 years and has a number of blogs on his website at http://www.zerrtech.com. His presentation pretty much followed his outline:

What you can do with Ubercart
What you can (not) do with Ubercart easily
How do you get started using Ubercart
Ubercart Basics
Useful Module Integrations
Sample Use Cases
Future of Ubercart

He started off his presentation by mentioning a couple of websites that utilize Ubercart. Digital Dollhouse (http://drupal.org/node/430222, http://www.digitaldollhouse.com) is a great example of a virtual world where Ubercart plays a significant role. Also mentioned was Just Racing UK website (http://http://drupal.org/node/333138, http://www.justracinguk.com) which is an example of selling an event with Drupal, Ubercart, Views, Dates and some glue. He also mentioned one of his own websites, THE TROUT LIE (http://www.troutlie.com) which is built on Drupal and uses Ubercart.

He spoke a bit on the Ubercart Community and that two resources exist, ubercart.org and then the code/drupal/updates content at drupal.org (http://drupal.org/project/ubercart).

Much of the presentation was focused on the different ways you can use Ubercart and its features including the "selling" of website content and subscription levels within a website.

Post presentation discussion included Ubercart website development time (4 weeks typical), PCI compliance, hosting sites for Drupal and eCommerce including liquidweb (http://www.liquidweb.com), PHP Memory requirements, and Acquia support.

June meeting agenda is open (no topics scheduled) and we need someone to volunteer as facilitator for the June meeting.

May meeting thanks

Thanks Clint for writing up the meeting report, I really appreciate it. Also, thanks to James for the projector and Antonio for making a last minute run home to get a projector screen.
