Hi colleagues
Rather belatedly, there's now a wiki page for the next newsletter. We're trying a slightly different process this time in order to spread the work around amongst all those wanting to lend a hand in getting the newsletter out.
To contribute you'll first need to join the Drupal Newsletter group so that you can add to the contents.
If you've been keeping news items in your head that you thought would be good for a wider audience, now is the time to jot them down on (virtual) paper. Alternatively, pick a section that you usually keep an eye out for and add it in when something new comes along.
Looking forward to working with everybody
Thanks
SimonP

keeping the ball rolling...
Hi SimonP and everyone,
I've been rather uninspired with slotting material into the current categories listed for the July/Aug newsletter (and that's my failure - not the categories'), but I had an idea for a newsletter article which could become something of a regular feature: Getting Drupal Done (a play on GTD (Getting Things Done) productivity...), wherein I would interview different community members who seem to get a lot done for Drupal - with an emphasis on productivity - what software do they use, tips or tricks, what their average work day looks like related to Drupal contributions, etc.
I believe there's a real desire out there for this sort of info - many of us don't have opportunities to work alongside other Drupallers, so getting a peek into how our compatriots organize their workflow is of interest.
What say you? Like the idea? If so, I'll line someone up and get an article ready.
Thought I'd run this idea by you - and also maybe help get the newsletter back on the radar of folks.

That's cool
Good idea! I say run with it and put something together!

I've got an interview in the works. Hope to add it to the newsletter before long.
I like the idea too. Maybe
I like the idea too.
Maybe we could expand on that and have articles about lessons learned as a Drupal service provider. Stories about pitfalls or emerging best practices... that sort of thing.
PS: if anyone has some stories to share in this area, I'd love to interview you.
packt publishing
So, the newsletter has been basically ready to go and now we've got a reason to dot those t's and cross the i's and ship it:
voting ends friday in the packt awards: http://groups.drupal.org/node/6716
Can we get this in shape to go by like, Thursday?

We missed the Friday mark
We missed the Friday mark for the Packt vote, but I've made some updates to the newsletter to bring it closer to sendability.
Maybe it should just be sent now...
I've added a couple more announcements, moved the feature article to a central location and fixed a few bits of coding. It could do with a contents list and possibly, if you really want one, a brief intro/editorial. It also needs someone who hasn't been awake for 31 hours to check it again for spelling, grammar and coding errors.
Then please, send it!
Just a suggestion: perhaps ditch the months in the title and have issue numbers. It's less awkward.
I've reviewed it for
I've reviewed it for spelling, etc. and I think it's fine. let's get it out the door.
TT
I reviewed it too and agree
I reviewed it too and agree that it's time for spreading the word.

Distribution
I've sent messages to Robin Monks [groups.drupal.org/user/810], who has previously distributed the newsletter, as well as using the contact form at [www.drupal.org/contact] in order to get this out....
Thanks

I just did a quick scan to look for things that might be a bit dated, and I updated the release of 4.10/5.5 and also the status on D6 from code freeze to Beta 4.
Hope that's ok with everyone.
