Has anyone looked at squarespace.com? It is a hosted CMS. It doesn't seem to be extensible, but has basic functionality (from the descriptions). Any comments or thoughts?

I think your chances of getting an informed AND unbiased opinion of a non-Drupal CMS in a Drupal User's Group forum are slim at best, but best of luck to you :)

This group seems to stay current with technology. There seems to be a lot of movement toward dynamic sites and away from static html. I was hoping that someone had played with this hosted system and could share their experiences.
Squarespace is a good tool for the right job
I've developed sites on Squarespace and even moved one from Drupal to Squarespace. If you con't need the power and/or flexibility of Drupal, but want to create a user-maintainable site, it's not a bad choice. I'd say that the content editing, while not as powerful as what you can set up with Drupal, is also therefore easier for a non-geek user to get and use. You have a lot of flexibility on theming - from using one of their canned ones to starting with a bare-bones wireframe and doing all the graphics and CSS yourself. With the higher-level accounts you can get in to add whatever Javascript you want wherever you want also. The on-screen layout and style changes you can make instantaneously are kinda cool. Another advantage is the hosting - no mussing or fussing with never-ending Drupal and module updates and such, and the infrastructure is supposedly built to scale to whatever traffic you get. Not dissing Drupal here - the right tool for the job, and for some jobs Squarespace is the right tool and Drupal is overkill.
If you're interested, I'd jump in and do the two-week free trial and see what you think.
