Using Open Atrium to Schedule Work for a Customer

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

My business provides services to customers on a monthly basis and I am considering using Open Atrium as a management system to track the provision of those services to each customer.

Each service (and indeed the process of onboarding a new customer) will have a set of tasks associated with it. For example: Publish Social Media content; the tasks would include procuring the content, reviewing the content, customer sign off, publishing to customer's website, syndication, providing the customer report etc

In effect, the set of tasks can be seen as a "template" that can be allocated to any particular customer and tracked for each month of service. It would be useful if the tasks could be assigned to a role (or maybe individual?) by default.

From what I've read, I get the idea that there would be a space for each customer. My thoughts are that the "template" could either be added as a subspace or section?

My requirement is that a template can be easily "cloned" for a customer as required, preferably from a "master" repository of Services and the tasks to be performed for that service. How easy, if at all, would it be to configure Open Atrium to do this and in outline, how would that be achieved?

Of course, for each month the date due for each task would need to be set and it would be ideal if this could be configured in some way, but that is possibly asking too much?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you would do that using the Atrium "blueprint" functionality, which allows you to use any Atrium site you've created as the template for an identical site. I have blueprints for conference sites, workshops, research groups, etc, and I use them to quickly set up a new site for an annual event or a new research group site, etc.

But as useful as this functionality is, I would also suggest that you get up to speed, if you haven't already, with Atrium's idea of Sections. The versatility of what they've done with Sections is unique to Atrium, and really simple and powerful. Sections allow you to create complex new sites very quickly, and often it's just as easy to create a new site from scratch as it is to start with a template.

Later today I'll try to do short screencasts that demo the blueprint and sections functionality, and will post the link to them here.

Can you create new section types?

I was about to ask if section types can be added, then decided to ask Google and found this: https://www.drupal.org/node/2118579 Very cool. Just posting here in case people looking for that.
