Join us on thursday, 12/6 @ 6:00pm for our holiday potluck. We'll be in the rooftop venue at Alto Apartments in Belltown - please post what you're bringing and sign up. There should be plenty of street parking available, free after 8.
There's space inside for 35+ people and a lot more outside. Bring a warm coat, as the weather looks cold but clear.
There are 3 bbq grills, so don't hold back if you know how to use it.
There's a shuffle board, sound system, and tables if people would like to bring some board games to play.
We have a hard stop at 10 on the main event, but we can go on to some place in Belltown. I'm thinking Navy Strength on 2nd ave.
To cover the venue cost, there will be a tip jar near the drinks. If you come early, I'll appreciate some help setting up and letting people in.

Garage on Capitol Hill
garagebilliards.com is a fun place to go, as past PNW Drupal Summit attendees may recall....

Garage = fun
Garage would definitely be fun and having bowling and pool options could be nice.
+1 for Garage
Given a choice between the Garage and Optimism, I'd choose the place that has reliable food options. If we can figure out a date, though, Optimism has the food truck schedule through February posted.
Food options
The date is December 6, and the food truck shown for that date is Macho Burgers (https://www.seattlefoodtruck.com/food-trucks/macho-burgers). There are lots of food options around Optimism, though.
Optimism Brewery
If just looking for place with good beer there is the Optimism Brewery next to the Garage which is great for groups: https://optimismbrewing.com/
Think the only food option is a food truck (I went to an event and they brought food). I mention it because they are very group friendly.
+1 for Optimism
I really like Optimism and it would work well for our needs. There is a food truck, as Jeanne mentioned, or you can bring food from any other restaurant nearby.
Optimism Brewery - lots of selection
The beer connoisseurs in the group will like Optimism.
I've never been to garage,
I've never been to garage, and love Optimism. Sizzle pie has great and fast pizza next door to Optimism as well. I think both sound like great options.
Choosing a location
Let's plan on deciding a location by tomorrow. Near the end of the day today, I'll create a poll with all of the options submitted here and we can vote.
Poll
I've created the poll here: https://groups.drupal.org/node/534559
Vote if you plan to attend.
Rooftop
Hey everyone, I mentioned having a rooftop event space in my new apartment. It's $100 to rent out and would be great for a potluck or ordering some food. Maybe a little keg of optimism?
Option added
Andrew - I've added your suggestion as a new option to the poll.
Last chance to vote
If you plan to join us for the December SeaDUG social event and haven't voted on a location yet, please do so at https://groups.drupal.org/node/534559
Fun ideas
The rooftop has a pretty big space inside with speakers, tables, and tvs. Hopefully the weather is light enough to be outside, but bring a warm coat and expect a drizzle. Wrap up is 10pm, and there's some fun places nearby if people want to keep going.
Ideas:
board games
fruit punch bowl
cocktail bar
optimism keg
bbq
Maybe we can start making a list of what people will bring?
Rooftop space
So is there indoor space on the roof?
And how are we covering the cost of the space? Anyone want to sponsor?
Space inside
There's space inside for 35+ people. There's 4 tables w/ chairs, and a large lounge area around a tv.
It would be great if a sponsor wanted to cover the event space, provide food, or a drink budget. Otherwise, it will be a potluck and people can bring things to share. There are 3 nice bbqs we can use.
In lieu of sponsorship, I'll pay for the space and put a tip jar near the drinks.
At the moment, weather looks to be clear, but cold next week:

RSVP
Hey everyone, don't forget to sign up for the event so we can get a head count.
December SeaDUG Party
Join us on thursday, 12/6 @ 6:00pm for our holiday potluck. We'll be in a private event space in Belltown - please post what you're bringing and sign up to receive location info. There should be plenty of street parking available, free after 8.

Order pizza
I suggest we order pizza and attendees pitch in for it (as well as the venue cost) since I haven't seen any signups for food yet and the event is a few days away. How does that sound?
Order food
I agree with Krichelle (coming from the practical project managers, ha ha). I'm coming straight from another event so won't have time to grab something unless I can swing by a store between getting from Bellevue to downtown. And most people will come from work so have to think about it ahead of time.
I would be willing to pitch in to have it covered since I would have paid something if we went to a bar.
There's a bunch of pizza
There's a bunch of pizza places in the area we could order from, like Zeek's, Belltown pizza, Bambinos, etc. I'll have a tip jar near the drinks to help cover the costs of everything. I can get 2 delivered around 6 and we can take it from there?
My contribution
I'm going to bring hummus, with vegetables and pita. And beer.
Address?
What's the street address?
I'll chip in for pizza and beer--coming from a client.
Alto Apartments
Password is "gutenberg".
If there is still some interest
I could bring a slow cooker with chili or something else, I would have to Lyft down to Andrew's building, and I'm not sure about plates, bowls, utensils etc. Maybe it is just easier to pitch in for food, I don't usually eat much myself, but I'm willing to add to the jar. Maybe I should just bring a little wine, or something easier to carry on a bus, but that probably won't go very far. Can we have an actual list made of things available, I know we have some grills and tables, and things people are bringing? Maybe I can try to set that up.
Slow cooker
We'll have plates and utensils, I could pick up bowls as well. If it's a hassle to make something, just bring the wine and a few bucks.
There's a sink, microwave, and ice machine though if anyone is set on bringing something.
Social event tonight
Our festive holiday gathering is tonight. If you plan to join us, please sign up, so we have a sense for how many to expect.
SeaDUG party at Alto Apartments
About 15 people attended the SeaDUG party hosted by Andrew Morton at Alto Apartments in downtown Seattle. Views from 18th floor roof community room and outside deck were great. Potluck was better than average. Andrew prepared cocktails with rum, rye, and bitters. Annette brought meatballs. Pizzas were served. Stein Setvik showed up with his bicycle. Old and new faces exchanged personal stories. Some had switched to salary jobs and some had switched to freelance. Job security looking good, but 2019 economy outlook had some taking precautions--something to do with short-term/long-term bond price ratios. A few rounds of shuffle board showed it takes skills lost overtime. Parting conversation included nutrition planning--signs of shifting priorities.

Economy leading indicator: Yield spread
During the SeaDUG party I asked a few people what led them to switch from freelance to salary or vice versa. The short answer was economic security. If you had economic worries, you went to salary. If you had economic confidence, you could switch to freelancing.
Using the yield spread to forecast recessions and recoveries

The spread equals the difference between the short-term borrowing rate set by the Federal Reserve (the Fed) and interest rates on longer term treasury notes, determined by bond market activity.
The yield spread reflects economic conditions as interpreted by bond market investors and Fed economists. To use the yield spread, all the layperson has to do is locate and understand what the current yield spread margin imports.
That knowledge is provided to you in this article.

Postscript:
Calculating the yield spread is simply a matter of subtracting the 3-month T-bill rate from the 10-year T-note rate.
