Drupal Pune Reboot
It's been a long time since we have met our community members in person, we plan to restart the in-person event for Drupal Pune, join us in planning future events including Drupal Camp Pune.

Points discussed

  • Should we restart the events the way they were pre-pandemic or try something new
  • Should the events be fully in-person or hybrid? What would most people prefer?
  • What do people want out of meetups?
    • Learn about what's new happening in drupal via sessions (lightning talks)
    • BoFs - discussion on specific topic
    • Code sprints/contribution sprints:
      Sprints should be focused more one discussing what others have tried and getting ideas, instead of actually sitting down and working on issues.
  • Drupal Camp Pune'23
    • Should we keep drupal camp as paid or free?
      • We do not have experience organizing a paid event and more efforts will be required to organize a high quality event.
      • It will be difficult for students to attend a paid event
      • Free event will be fully dependent on sponsors to bear all the costs involved
    • What should be the dates for DCP
    • Should we collaborate with other communities, so the sessions are more diverse? For eg. Decoupled Drupal sessions with React community
  • How do we engage the community in a sustainable way?
  • Meetups and sprints create a momentum at early stage but it eventually cools down and after a point they just stop happening.
    • Don't keep the same format for every meetup, one could be BoF the next could be code sprint
    • The same people should not be responsible for organizing every meetup, different people should come up to volunteer for different meetups.
    • We can prepare a template/playbook for hosting events so anyone can just refer to that for organizing the meetup
    • How do we engage the professionals?
    • How do we engage the students?
      • Restart initiatives like Drupal Campus Ambassador Programme
      • Giving sessions in college events

Decisions made

  • Meetups will happen once every two months, on 2nd or 3rd Friday around 5-7PM
  • We plan to start the events in hybrid mode.
  • Next meetup:
    • Will be on 14th April' 23 at QED42's office
    • Format will be a lighting talk followed by BoFs
  • Drupal Camp
    • Will be held in August'23 (tentatively on 12th -13th August)
    • Will discuss the teams and responsibilities in next meetup
