OK all. I have thrown my MAMP into the trash and am starting from scratch. Way too many headaches. Down load MAMP, Drupal, unzip Drupal in htdocs, here comes the problem. Why can I not export my db properly? I export it but the name that it has is not my database name. I have done this three time previously, now for whatever reason I am having problems. As always, assistance is greatly appreciated.

What tool are you using to do your database export?

I am exporting from godaddy

I am exporting from godaddy using phpadmin, then importing using mamp.

But you "threw out" MAMP?

Try using the Backup/Migrate

Try using the Backup/Migrate module to do importing and exporting of your drupal database, instead of godaddy/phpmyadmin
