Assalamualaikum

Sumardi which is an expert PHP, XoopsMalaysia.org webmaster (who inspired me to start DrupalMalaysia.org) has started SMD a company specializing in software and CMS development
I donno what happened to XoopsMalaysia.org, the last time it was very active, and had many active members and developers
But I personally dont want to delve into Xoops lest I will get headache and migraine, and why should I when almost all of my work building sites and SNS using Drupal, and I dont have any PHP knowledge, except some distant memory from C++ programming back in 93 as a chemical engineering student :)
To Sumardi and Xoops fans, welcome to Drupal - a software that will not disappoint you, nor will hinder the progress, but will help to realize the potential of online presence and the availability of bandwidth and Internet access
and I will help anybody who wants to build Islamic or Malaysian SNS

Xoops Malaysia
Yes. We're using drupal for our company's website. As an open source advocate I believe in exploring all tools that are made available by ardent supporters of open source philosophy. Exploring other tools will never brings harm yet will add and enrich more knowledge up yourself. The crap that happened in the Xoops.org (International one not Xoops Malaysia itself) make me away from Xoops. Anyway, I still support Xoops.
Long life open source!
welcome
That's good to hear...
Hope we get enough good people to conduct our own DrupalCon!

Drupal
So any plan to bring the 'remnant' of Xoops Malaysia into Drupal camp ? ;)
Welcome to Drupal, btw :)
Its back
I noticed that XoopsMalaysia.org was `off' for several days - that was when I remembered to check out your Sumardi.net and SMD.com.my
So its back, and I am also glad that you didnt lose that site to somebody else
I dont know Sumardi, I really believe the time spent on crappy codes and toiling on systems should better be spent to build better sites and portals, but I wish I could program in PHP and tweak Drupal to enable things like `Latest Members Pictures' (existing code is prone to error)
Once again, I am a Daei and I work toward `Internet Web 2.0 for Islaam' and so far Drupal is a great enabler
we cant shoot down sites like IslamLiberal and Apostates's sites, but we can build Islamic sites that get high PR and user friendly (extensible profile) and enhance Islamic sites
And please extend our offer to anybody that we want to help them with their Dakwah sites or obtain our free subdomains for Islamic propagation
ALLAH WILL HELP THOSE WHO HELP HIS AD-DEEN
Wabillahi Taufiq wal Hidayah

I'm Still Xoopser
I believe, every CMS has its own advantages and disadvantages. You have to make architectural choices, some will like them, others will prefer a different set of constraints that comes with the choice. I look Drupal as an alternative for some of projects that I'm working on especially with CakePHP. I'm glad to know that we have active Drupal members here in Malaysia. You guys have my support and if there is anything I can do to help just let me know.
p/s: I'm looking forward to come to your next meetup.
Kita semua orang Islam
Xoops ke Drupal ke, whatever tools, use them for Islaam, if not, I wont bother anymore.
We are working on a SNS using Drupal and Dolphin (another fine and free CMS mostly unknown except if you search hard for `free social networking software') and of course for propagation of Islam and online services
