In another thread the possibility of an Albany-area meetup at DrupalCon SF was briefly discussed, but I thought we'd move any in-depth discussion here to keep things tidy. For now, this thread is to gauge general interest before the event, and to give us an URL to pass on to those who aren't yet part of the group but might be interested. As the date gets closer and we have a pretty good idea of who's coming and what's happening, we can talk schedules and location, and go from there.
Bram also kindly pointed out that my prior introduction was a bit sparse in certain areas (you know, little things, like my name...), so I thought this would also be a good opportunity for us attendees to share a bit about who we are, what we do, why we're going, and what sessions we're looking forward to.
As for myself, my name is David Watson, a Web Developer working at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. I've been in the Web space for the past five years, though I've only been working with Drupal (almost exclusively) for the past year or so, attempting to bring our static sites under content management. I'm half of a two-person Web team here at EMPAC, and currently the only one in the department with Drupal development experience, so my role is some combination of Designer/Developer/Themer/Project Manager/Junior Sysadmin. You'll probably find me attending intermediate-advanced sessions on almost any facet of Drupal I can fit into my schedule, especially those that fit well under the domain of education and media. Afterwards, I'll probably be doing a lot of wandering and exploring - this would be my first trip to the area.
Please post here and share a bit about yourself if you're attending and interested in meeting up - looking forward to seeing you there!
