What if a Drupal developer could easily develop Facebook apps the "Drupal way" without having to learn the "Facebook way"? What if Drupal site admins could easily integrate their Drupal sites into Facebook? Boris has the full scoop about Drupal commodization of Facebook apps as well as the Facebook apps with Drupal presentation at the August 2007 Vancouver League of Drupalers from our friends at Project Opus / Donat Group who are developing a cool social playlist Facebook app that will be out soon.

HA! the one meeting i should have been at I couldn't make.

Least that answers my questions of if my module should be abandoned for the new facebook<=>drupal stuff.

I still don't know how to deal with the username namespace issue.. having "Gavin Mogan (2)" would kinda suck as well.
I'll bring up the issues in the facebook group.

Since I can't find the post..

For the username thing, there's no way to seperate the display name and the username without the profile module (and i think even with the profile module?)

Display vs. user

With all default themes, display name == username. You can make a profile field and have it map to some other field you get from Facebook, but it won't display unless the theme is tweaked to show that field.

And yeah, you should have been there. But James is just a couple of blocks away -- easy enough to go for beers at some point.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who attended the presentation at Bryght. It was a great turn-out that shows Drupal + Facebook integration is a really wanted feature for the community.

On that note, I've got my 3 modules in Drupal CVS, finally! They're currently sitting in my sandbox --> http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/sandbox/jamesandres/ .

Cheers,

James
