I've created this thread so we could look at scheduling a meetup for November. During the October meetup, it was decided that Wednesdays would work best for folks.
Potential agenda items include:
- intro to CVS
- module roundup - modules of note we've encountered or created
- development tools for Drupal work
- jQuery - Drupal's javascript library
- ?

One thing I think might be
One thing I think might be helpful for next time is to limit the scope and time of the meeting. As Michael mentioned, as some point our spouses are going to catch on to the all-night format and protest.
I enjoyed doing what we did this time, with informal presentations from each member about what they were currently doing with Drupal. However, we probably could have done one or two people and have it fit in a better time frame. One thought is that it might be good to have one or two people slotted for presentations of some kind, and have informal, optional discussion afterwards about things. I'm sure we all have something we can share, and can probably do some kind of round-robin, switching each meeting. If the group decides to maintain a module, that will give us something else to cover in meetings, but until then it seems good to keep with the cross-pollination of techniques and experiences.

Next Meeting
Last meeting was a good ice breaker. For our next meeting, I like Chris' idea of slotting 1 or 2 presentations followed by discussion. I'd be happy with any of Michael's topic suggestions.
The first two Wednesdays in November are the 7th and 14th. Does anyone have troubles with Nov 7th?
Is anyone interested in starting earler than 6:30 (and also finishing earlier)?

RE: Next Meeting
Excuse my lack of introduction as I haven't had a chance yet to meet jmelby and dwight, but I know Dylan, Chris and I see that mlsamuelson guy pretty much on a daily basis. November the 7th would work just fine for me
CVS Commit
Michael,
Got my name in on a core patch today! http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=83210 . However, it looks like I did the cvs diff in the wrong location (did it in the includes folder itself and not from root). Since you have had a chance to write, test, and commit patches on those modules you maintain, I would love to discuss some of the Drupal patches best practices at the meeting.
I know a lot of us also
I know a lot of us also attend the Boise Web Technologies Meetup. There's a meetup scheduled for that group on the 8th, so two evenings of back-to-back meetings may be a bit much for some of us (me included).
It appears they have a regular meeting on the second Thursday of the month. Perhaps we ought to select something like the third or fourth Wednesday of a month. This time around, how about the 14th?
I like Eric's offer to do a presentation on patches, and unless someone else has a presentation idea, I can do 15-20 minutes on tweaking Drupal's workflow to match user needs.

Next meeting
Well, I can do the 14th if that works for everyone else. I'm scheduled to teach a class on th 15th - 17th, so it will just mean yet another night away from home.
BTW: it looks like the Idaho Statesman is using Drupal. I just signed up there to post a comment on a discussion thread, and it sure looked like Drupal (with some customizations) to me. Anybody want to see if their admin would like to join us?
Patrick Lee is the developer
Patrick Lee is the developer at the Statesman who's been using Drupal. He's involved in the Boise Web Technologies meetup which I've mentioned elsewhere in this group. I sent him an invite a while back and he indicated interest, but noted he wasn't sure he'd be able to fit us in due to other obligations. I'll ping him again on it, though, next time I see him.
So, it sounds like we're interested in meeting earlier. Maybe someone can reserve the room at the Library Coffeehouse on Nov 14 starting at 5:30pm. And we'll aim to keep it to two hours.
I just spoke with ejhildreth and he's okay to do a presentation on making and applying patches to Drupal.
And if no one else has anything to share, I can talk for a bit on workflows.
I've penciled the 14th in on my calendar.
Reservations?
Since I haven't seen any confirmations, I assume that nobody has reserved the room at the Library Coffeehouse? I'll try to give them a call tomorrow and see if it's still available.
Thanks, Dwight, I know I
Thanks, Dwight, I know I haven't made reservations.

The 14th
The 14th works just fine for me as well. Just to clarify, are we meeting at 6:30 pm at The Coffehouse in Meridian?
I made a post a while back
I made a post a while back in answer to your question, Dwight, but I must have never clicked the submit button.
The 14th works good for me. I like the idea of earlier, if it works for other folks. I wouldn't mind hearing more about patching, and an intro to Workflows also sounds good. Maybe a bit of both?
Ejhildreth, just in case there is another coffeehouse called "The Coffeehouse", this one is called "The Library Coffeehouse". ;)

I am good with it all.
Since I am the new guy... you all set the meeting and I'll just show up.
I am looking forward to the discussion as I have been working with Drupal for about 3 whole weeks now. Fortunately, I have spent about 60 hours per week, modified a module and built a theme (or had my "guy" do it anyway)... so hopefully, I can contribute a little.

Welcome to the group, Corey!
Welcome to the group, Corey! One of the neat things about Drupal development is that it seems like a lot of people head in different directions, so even if you're new, you still have good material to share.

Room reserved
Ok. The meeting room at the Library Coffee house in Meridian is reserved for us from 7:00 to 9:00 on the 14th. I have another meeting earlier in the evening, so I may be a little late getting there, but the room is in my name. See you all there.
Sorry, won't make it
I was hoping the decision was for 5:30... my wife has a meeting at 7pm. I'll look forward to future meetings.

Hi Folks,
Hi Folks,
Up above I think we were talking about having the meeting earlier, since we had agreed that that last meeting went a little too late. 5:30pm sounds good, as was mentioned by msamuleson above, and that way Corey would make it, too. Would that work for you, dwight? Would you be willing to re-schedule the meeting room for 5:30-7:30?
Thanks!

This would be great for me
If we can meet at 5:30pm, I can be there for at least an hour of the meeting. I'll just step out so I can be back for my wife's meeting. In the future, Wednesdays are great... probably anytime.

Afraid not. I have another
Afraid not. I have another meeting Wednesday evening before this one. I'll even be pushing it to make it to this.
The other thing you have to look at is room availability. When I reserved the room for us, it sounded like there may be another group in there earlier in the evening. If so, then we wouldn't be able to get in there earlier.
We can shoot for another day if everyone wants.
I know we had talked about
I know we had talked about doing it earlier at the last meeting, possibly Michael and Johnathon chime in to see what their schedules look like?
Thanks!

This Wednesday's Meeting
The 7-9PM reservation works for me.
(I don't have anything else scheduled for the evening, so I could meet any time after 5PM.)

New to the group
I am not sure how much I could contribute as I am fairly new to Drupal. Would anyone mind if I also attended the meeting?
Thanks,
Kim
@Kim - we'd love to have you
@Kim - we'd love to have you at the meeting.
@everyone - It seems it's pretty sketchy when I get the email updates I subscribed to for this group (will have to look into why!) so I'm going to have to be more diligent about checking in. :)
As it sounds like room availability may be an issue, and due to the short notice, I'm suggesting we go with 7-9pm (though I'll probably have to leave early).
We've picked up some new (potential) attendees since we last met (expecting 2-3 new people), so we may need to think about a new venue... And we ought to formalize (as much as possible) our meeting days and times.
So, agenda:
So, to reiterate: 7-9pm at the Library Coffeehouse in Meridian. Look them up on the web for directions, etc.
See you there.
Welcome to the group, Kim!
Welcome to the group, Kim! The group is as much for spectators as for those currently developing in Drupal. I think I can safely say that we all have the potential to learn a lot from each other, regardless of how seasoned we are with Drupal. For the newcomers, it's a great forum to ask questions and get your feet wet, and for the more experienced developers it's good to get the chance to articulate what they know (teaching is the best way to learn).
Thanks for putting together the agenda, Msamuleson, if you need a second opinion I think it looks good.
I'm looking forward to it!

Have fun tonight
Sorry I can't make it tonight to meet you all.
In the future, I should be pretty good with a set meeting time. Tuesdays are not the best time. But I can make it work if that is what you all decide.
Since I work for myself, time is fine and I'll stay as long in a meeting as long as we are talking about ways I can be better at Drupal.
Have fun!
If someone takes notes, be sure to post them to the group.

We had a great meeting last
We had a great meeting last night despite the venue's wireless being down. (Thanks Chris, for coming through with the necessary modules so I could do my presentation.)
One thing we did was come up with some meeting ooptionss. I'll be posting those as a new page shortly.
Thanks everyone who showed up and contributed!
