Hi folks from the "Drupal for Activists and Campaigns" group,
At DrupalCon SF, I organized a BoF called "Drupal for Revolutionary Change". Mostly, I wanted to see if there were any other radicals at the conference who wanted to get together to introduce ourselves, talk about the projects we're working on that involve Drupal and our various efforts at radical/revolutionary change, and see if we can share resources, ideas, whatever. About 15 folks attended, and mostly we spent the hour just getting to know each other. Instead of starting our own group to continue the conversation, we figured it'd be better to join forces with this existing group by means of an introductory discussion, which is the point of this message. ;) So, I'll introduce myself and the projects I've been working on here. Others (either from the BoF or otherwise) are welcome to add comments and do the same.
Also, there was general agreement that organizing BoFs like this at future conferences would be worth doing... I won't be able to make it to Copenhagen, but I'll plan to organize another BoF at DrupalCon Chicago in 2011. But, if anyone's interested in organizing something in Copenhagen, please do. ;)
So, a bit about me... I've been a Drupal developer since early 2006. I do a lot of core development (I was apparently the 14th most active core developer for Drupal 7), I maintain most of the code that powers drupal.org itself (all the project/release/issue management stuff), I'm on the drupal.org infrastructure team, the security team, etc. If you want more of the gory details, you can check out:

In terms of my involvement in revolutionary politics... I've been an active revolutionary socialist since early 1995, and through that, involved in tons of organizing on all sorts of issues: labor, anti-racist, anti-war, womens' rights, environmental movements, criminal justice, etc, etc. About 2 years ago, I built and launched a daily website for what was then a weekly print newspaper: SocialistWorker.org. I've continued to work on that site, and in the meantime, recently launched an online bookstore using UberCart: HaymarketBooks.org. I also built WorkersMemorialFund.org using Drupal after my uncle was crushed to death at work (you can read the whole story if you're interested). I'm currently working on SocialismConference.org, another UberCart-based site for our annual conference (this year in both Chicago 6/17 to 6/20, and Oakland 7/1 to 7/4). We're also in the planning/design phases for building an A/V archive site (mostly of talks from previous conferences, but hopefully other materials), and a relaunch of the site for the organization itself: InternationalSocialist.org (which is currently a static site, but we're going to relaunch that in Drupal to allow for each chapter around the country to have an easy place to post local events and let people find out about news and activities happening close to them).
If anyone's at all interested in any of the above projects, I'd love to hear from you. ;) We're chronically short on resources to keep all these projects going and to launch the new ones, so the more help the merrier. My contact tab on drupal.org is the best way to reach me for this.
Looking forward to hearing from other people involved in hook_world_alter() activities... ;)
In solidarity,
-Derek

Socialist Party of Malaysia
I'm the webmaster for the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM). Our website is running Drupal 6.17 with Boost, Panels, Views, CCK, ImageField, ImageCache, translate, locale, i18n, and Ubercart (for handling orders and delivery only, no payment gateway integration for now). The server stack consists of Ubuntu, Nginx and Apache. Check it out:

I help give support regularly on the Drupal Support forum as well as clean up documentation especially on Drupal issues I'm familar with. Were you at DrupalCon Paris? I was there on scholarship and volunteered. I helped out in the Drupal 7 code sprint and was also on the lookout for activists like ourselves but didn't find many.
That aside, I'm involved with the PSM branch in Penang. We run campaigns on economic and social issues. Always good to meet another revolutionary using Drupal.
I'm also part of a collective called Kedai Runcit doing ICT and communcations for progressive causes. Our website is running on WordPress but we're planning to migrate it, and all our projects are now done in Drupal. You can also check out my personal website at kriskhaira.com.
