I can see a lot of arguments about moving the Arabic translation to l.d.o or keeping it as a drupal project in favor of using CVS. I have gone through different posts, issues and comments.
I don't go for further arguments, I just would share simple proposal.
Goals:
1. Better Arabic in Drupal
2. More contributors
3. Trying the new tools provided through l.d.o
4. Find the problem it may be faced after moving to l.d.o, reporting these issue may help evolve Localization Server for our benefit
5. Insure smooth move to l.d.o, as in the near future, it'll be the only way to contribute translations to Drupal
6. Not losing others effort
Proposal:
As I can see that some few languages had their own Localization Server out of l.d.o, I thought we could maintain our Localization Server for Arabic Translations for testing phase purpose.
Steps
1. Implement testing Drupal Localization Server online [need volunteer for hosting]
2. Checkout last Arabic Translation project release and try to merge it with others translations efforts [need volunteers each for core and modules]
3. Import PO to that testing server
4. Post guidelines for Drupal Arabic translation that we all agree on
5. Post guide for how-to contribute to Drupal Arabic translation

1. Messy PO
2. Guidelines arguments!!

I'd love to see the arabic translation in the http://localize.drupal.org/ server too !
I just hate it when using the l10n_update module to have my web site in arabic but a beautiful red message was saying : Cannot find any translation updates !
Thanks to its committers http://drupal.org/node/12996/committers, the arabic translation has already all the .po needed to start existing in the http://localize.drupal.org/ and join the efforts of the Drupal community to provide an updated language translation using the l10n_update module.
I can understand the fear of the "quality" of the translation .... but all other languages are doing well with it ! and I personnally belive that the http://localize.drupal.org/ will make it easier for new contributors to suggest projects translation.
So let's join the effort please :)
