Moderation modules

This is related to, but not the same as Moderating Revisions. Both have the concept that a node created or edited by an untrusted user moves to a moderation queue until an admin can review it. Revision moderation displays an older, approved revision of a node after an untrusted user makes an edit. Moderation is simpler, as it doesn't have the feature of a visible older revision: the edited node simply goes back to the earlier moderation queue state.

Some features of moderation that some but no all moderation modules have:
- created content (nodes/comments) by untrusted users go to a moderation queue
- admins bypass this state
- admins have access to a moderation queue where they approve content
- updated content returns to the moderation queue for re-approval.

Some of the duplicates: Modr8 - Moderation - Content_Moderation

List of moderation/editing modules:
* Activism - doesn't do editing yet, but might be added to the Indymedia concept?
* Coherent_Access - create shared editing & viewing of nodes between users
* Comment_Moderation - alternative approval queue view with all actions directly available
* Comment_Mover
* Comment_OG - gives group admins the ability to delete comments within their groups
* Comment_Revisions - View/revert/delete comment revisions
* Content Approval
* Content_Moderation
* Decisions - advanced voting systems & decision-making tools. Enable groups to take decisions online
* Diff tab shows all revisions for sufficiently permissioned users; used for Revisioning
* eJournal - powerful production publishing system
* Edit_Section + Content_Access for some special editing niches?
* Fivestar - future implementation by group moderation?
* Footnotes - future feature; maybe automatically add editors data + optional message?
* KWresearch keyword research (for moderation?)
* KWanalysis (for moderation?)
* Manager (4 content editors) add/edit/delete/comments/ on Views Bulk Operations page, integrates Admin theme
* Moderation
* Module Grants works with Revisioning, Workflow & TAC-lite; better operating content access permissions
* Modr8
* Modr8_Bypass - pre-moderation for certain roles and no moderation at all for other roles
* PublishContent - not sure if this can be upgraded/implemented by moderation-(modules)?
* Required_for_Pub - can be used for a necessary field that only an editor can fill in before publishing
* Revisioning - seems nice for moderation & for Indymedia ?
* Revision_Moderation
* Revisions_RSS
* ScribeSEO - tells web writers of any kind how to tweak their content to get more search engine traffic
* SU_Comments - show unpublished comments to their authors
* TAC_Lite Taxonomy Access Control Lite works with Module_Grants and Revisioning
* VersionControl - similar to Revision Moderation, but more professional?
* SimpleNews_Content_Selection
* SpellCheck
* view_unpublished - grant access for specific user roles to view unpublished nodes of a specific type
* WorkBench very promising new suite with sub-modules; D7 only
* WorkFlow - could be used for moderation work

Drupal core issue: Default view to respect moderation queue and provide additional moderation block

Independent Media moderation
For Independent Media Center / Indymedia, moderation is a bit different. There is an "open newswire" in the right column where all articles appear immediately, due to the open publishing policy: Drupal_NewsWire. But then editing steps in: articles from the "open newswire" can go upwards to the front page (optional keeping a copy in the newswire or not), or can go to downwards to the 'hidden' open newswire (one has to go to that specific page to see the items), or even delete completely or to a garbage-bin page when conflicting to the IMC policy. Two (adjustable setting, like 1-3) editors have to make the same decision to make a change (or maybe 1 super-editor) & some other rules for more editors when the first 2 differ in their opinion & some rules to make a decision definitive. I'm not sure how this can be done (in several ways?) with standard Drupal modules. I think some of those modules should be changed for these new features, to integrate the way "Indymedia Alba" and LinksUnten moderation modules work, because they don't deliver the modules separately on Drupal and the Alba way seems to be a bit Drupal-conflicting:
* IMC_Alba
* github.com/.../comment = their altered hijacked comment module
* Indymedia_ALBA
* Drupal.org CVS applications(Issues - LinksUnten) => module Comment_Rating exists but not on Drupal.org, as LinksUnten hasn't updated/ported further developments implemented on their site.

General integrated module - WorkBench?
Almost impossible to "force" all voluntary contributors into working together & bringing their modules basics over to one single 'Moderate_API' module + sub-modules. BUT such a general module developing in this way seems to be WorkBench?(!) - see building-workbench-community-approach.
Functionalities taken from other modules:
* Content_Lock
* Notifications
* Rules
* Scheduler
* WorkFlow
(very incomplete list yet)
