Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I am beginning to organize a meetup targeted toward Community Media Centers in Pittsburgh during the Alliance for Community Media's National Conference (alliancecm.org). The conference is happening July 7-10, 20010. Ideally the meetup would happen on Thursday July 8th or Friday July 9th.

I'm in Denver and unfamiliar with Pittsburgh. Does anyone have suggestions for a location that is walkable from the Hilton? Any assistance finding a location is very much appreciated.

There is a local messageboard http://nevertellmetheodds.org/ where a lot of people involved in indie media and community organizing post, some of them might have some connections for you.

Oh, I didn't realize they had put that in place again. I don't think that I can, but you can send me something to post and I can post it.

Maybe something like

Maybe something like this....

Looking for space within walking distance from the Hilton for a casual meetup for conference attendees on the evening of Thursday July 8th or Friday July 9th. We'll be discussing the Open Media Project (www.openmediaproject.org) along with other collaborative community media project. Anyone is invited to attend but the meetup will be most relevant for and targeted to employees of public access stations.

If you send my the post URL I can follow the conversation.

I can post that if you want,

I can post that if you want, but you might want to consider saying a little bit more about the organization and why people should help (though not too many words since its a short attention span group of people)... there are lots of requests on there, so unless people see why they should help they usually don't bother.

Also, please add a subject line to post with it.

Downtown Wasteland

Hmmm! I don't think of downtown Pittsburgh a good place for meetings. Perhaps a Starbucks - I know there is one up by the Steel Plaza/William Penn Area. There is a Brueggers Bagels on Cherry Way (about half way up town). If you walk across Smithfield Street Bridge to South Side, there are a variety of restaurants and of course, Starbucks. If you catch a bus up the Blvd of the Allies to Oakland, there is Panera's bread. That is an excellent location: Free Wifi, a limited number of electric outlets and they actually have a meeting room you can reserve.

I am working out of town. There is a chance I will be in Pittsburgh July 8~9, but not definite.

I could get you some space at RMU downtown. It is the location of our media arts department. Another place might be Duquesne University since they are the home of WDUQ public radio station.
There is easy free subway or bus access to these two universities about a mile from the Hilton.

Any word on this?
