Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I registered with Apress, so group members can get a 35% discount on Apress books(40% for 10 or more). This includes Pro Drupal Development, which many of you know is a fantastic, if not essential, Drupal book. There is also a 50% discount on ebooks.
I have also registered with O'Reilly, publisher of the also awesome, if not essential, Using Drupal, for a similar discount program. I believe the discount is similar, but varies by title, so I am waiting for more info from them. We should also get discounts on O'Reilly events if anyone is interested. I will let everyone know when I receive the rest of the info from O'Reilly.
Note also that if we publish book reviews, which is something we might do on the new group site if we'd like, we can get occasional free review copies from either publisher.

I'd HIGHLY recommend a book review section on the new site. I'd also be MORE than willing to do book reviews, especially if they'll send us copies. I've seen a few books that could use reviewing. "Book Reviews that Newbs Can Use".

As regards O'Reilly, is there any possibility of us being able to get a group discount on a multi-user Safari account? That might be great for meetings or for general use by all of us. But it might be a logistical problem? However, it may/should be possible to make access to the Safari account only available through OUR site. That's how libraries do it. But I don't know how hard that would be. Something to discuss perhaps?
Why yes, my mouth IS writing a check that my behind can't cash. :-P

Let me know what I need to do to buy books through Apress' User Group program. I'm after an ecopy of ProDruDev. I'm also after an ecopy of "Using Drupal" from ORA (I've got to return my library copy in about an hour!). I'm planning to do reviews of both from a "newb" perspective. If we get a reviews section set up on OUR site, I'll contribute them there.

I got the ebook bundle of "Using Drupal" with our discount code, so I'll be adding a review. I may even do a 'running review', with a review about each chapter as I go through it. If i can figure out how to do that without messing everything up!
