VBO vs entity_property_info_alter to provide a list
Thanks to the screencasts by Mr. Falk, I have written a simple custom module to provide a list for rules that has the node IDs of all the pages in a book. This is a global variable provided by the entity API and it works great. Currently I think the only "out of the box" list regarding books is the ancestor: lists and they don't contain branches or children.
My plan is to use this list to perform actions and conditions on books like providing page numbers, deleting, flagging, and (I may be dreaming here) compile all pages into a pdf file for printing.

The API also allows data to be pulled into flat arrays indexed by the text biblio field identifiers like 'author' or 'title.'

Read moreTagging old Content with new Taxonomy Terms
I've been using a Drupal site for a while now but just started playing around with views. It became clear that I would need taxonomy terms to catagorize my content correctly.
So though my site has probably a month's worth of content on it, today I created taxonomy vocabulary and terms. Volia! Everythings great... All NEW content gives the option to add the taxonomy tags. Problem is... all the OLD content, the previous books that I had created are not allowing me to link them to the taxonomy terms from the "Edit" page.
Read morepanels? books? Looks good and helps the site editor/admin not mess up the website
Always on a quest for the best way to make a good Drupal site structured.. I am one to impose limitations on the user (site editor) in order to preserve good site structure, but I have come across something that has thus far eluded me.
I am using a separate Panel per site subsection with several Panel Variants therein all based on path in order to produce a consistent site subsection navigation experience: common left menu, 2- or 3-columns within based on current page, and similar side components per page.
