A new IIS 6/7 FastCGI extension was recently released: http://www.iis.net/downloads/default.aspx?tabid=34&g=6&i=1521 It runs on top of ISAPI and generally makes PHP within IIS more stable. Has anyone tried installing this yet? Any noticeable performance boost? I'll be setting it up soon and will reply with my own opinion soon...

I'm hoping to deploy it in Q1 2008

I've been using it since it was released in beta. I'm still getting my share of 500 errors and I'm hoping to contact Zend/Microsoft about it in January. Other than the 500 errors that spring up, I'm very pleased with the performance of it so far. By mid-to-late Q1, I'm hoping that we'll have figured out the 500 problems, but we'll see. I'd be interested if you're experiencing the same thing. I'm on Win2K3 ... haven't even looked at 2008 yet.

Win2k3 stable

I'm currently on Win2k3 running the FastCGI extention. Upgraded to the latest version (the one that's supported now, and out of beta, yay! :) ). In the "lab", it seems well enough. I haven't experianed the 500 errors. However, using some of the clean urls implementations out there has caused some headaches (it's the fault of the 3rd party programs, not the FastCGI module itself).

I currently also have an alpha version of the new Microsoft SQL Driver for PHP...so hoping to fire up a report of that running on both the IIS and Apache stack. The new driver holds promise, but is still a bit buggy. But hey, it's still in beta...and I mean a "true beta", not a "google beta" ;).

APC + FastCGI?

matt_paz's picture

Are you using APC with FastCGI? Perhaps that is where the 500s are coming from ... or perhaps some custom module ... I'll have to try to strip it down and see if I can reproduce the issue. Glad to hear it is working for you tho' ... Interestingly, I haven't experienced any problems using clean URLs

I am looking forward about

I am looking forward about this, too. Without this PHP + IIS, I guess I will vote for ODBC implementation, as it will also benefit for EnterpriseDB, too ;-)
