Just confirming that the next meeting will be on Wed, July 7, 6-8 pm, at the Deschutes Hall on the Univ of Oregon campus, in the 2nd floor main conference room (same location).

Hey folks,

How can we get more people to this meeting? Who can we reach out to? Can we cross-post this somewhere? Can we find eugene drupalers on twitter? Can we implement a bring-a-friend policy?

Also, I am working in the CS building this summer. I have keycard and key access. So no one needs to get here early.

Sorry, I have to bow out of this month's meeting. I got hired by Acquia (yay!), and will be in Boston for a couple weeks, including next Wednesday. I look forward to the August meeting though.

I definitely support more reach out though. @auzigog: please cross-post this anywhere you think is good. The PDX group might be a good one (we might get one or two people that way). If you have ideas for reach-out at UO, I think there must be some CS students or profs who'd be interested. I'll forward you any other lists I can think of.

Change The Time

I wonder if it wouldn't make sense to try changing the time of the meeting so it falls within business hours. Perhaps the late time slot is making it hard for some folks to make it.

It seems to me that fewer folks would be able to show up if we did it during business hours. Not sure how many employers would let people take time off to come to a gathering like this?

What do you all think?

Not sure how much of a vote I should get, since I'm not attending this month, but my 2 cents is to keep it 6pm-8pm this time, but ask the question at the meeting, and discuss it online for the August meeting.

I know that other cities (e.g., Portland) start similar meet ups at approx 6, figuring that employers don't usually consider these meet ups as "work", but also not wanting to run too late for people that want to get back home to their families at a reasonable time. But we don't have to follow that tradition: let's decide on what works for us, and perhaps encourage comments from people we're reaching out to who aren't yet coming.

I'm new to Drupal and can't wait to meet with everyone. 6-8 is a very reasonable time to meet for me. I'll be there for sure.

I will be at the meetup and we'll see who all shows up. Sounds like we have a few people coming even though most of our regulars won't be there. Should be fun.

PS - Should we have a Drupal-ers hangout at OCF? Sounds like we'll all be there. I'm working on a crew (security midnight to 6). Ping me early this week if you want to hang out.

Big groups start small

Just to encourage you guys when mikey_p and I started attending the LA Drupal group it met above sandwich shop and was sometimes just mikey_p and the organizer, and he had to drive an hour from Orange County just to get there.

As Drupal has grown so has the group, and people come from all over the country to go to the LA Drupal camp. Hopefully we can stop doing Drupal long enough to get away and come hangout with you guys soon!
