Hi,
This is our first web site using Drupal. It was quite the learning experience for this sys-admin switching over to developping :)
Thanks for any input, I do intend on going back to this one over and over as I learn more..

really pretty site
That looks great - the theme is very attractive.
My pieces of advice for functionality:
1) find a way to stick a search box into your page layout. Maybe you could get it into the right sidebar above the "Elsipogtog" link. It makes the search easier to find and removes 1 click from the user's experience.
2) splash pages are somewhat controversial, but I think you've got a nice one. Even though it's pretty obvious, it would still be a good idea to have a link at the bottom that says "continue to the site" and then a similar one inside of the splash image. When I first brought up the page I thought "well, this is nice but how do I see the rest of the site" until I moused over the image and realized it was alink.
3) people are somewhat used to the masthead being a link back to the front page. In your case I would have it link to "node/1" rather than the splashscreen
4) you already know that path can be helpful since you are using it, but pathauto can be further helpful since it creates the paths automatically for you.
Again - great work!
Regards,
Greg
