I have just "successfully" installed Acquia Slate, 3.x (3.0 Beta 1). I am trying to get the background image to show on the front page (like on http://acquiaslate.fusiondrupalthemes.com/), but the instructions/documentation seem to have been written for a different version of the theme.
Specifically: there is no "Frontpage preface sidebar" or "Front preface sidebar" region in my blocks, to add something to (I only want this on my frontpage). Also, the "Show Mission Statement" under global theme settings does not seem to do the trick.
Thanks in advance,
Dave
PS: I've installed SKINR and the FUSION theme.

Content Top
Create a block with the image you want to use in it. Set it to display on frontpage only . Save, then set it in the "Content Top" region. That'll give you your image. Now as far as the Preface Siderbar: I don't know where that went. I've used Marina and Prosper, so I don't have much experience with Slate. But I downloaded a new copy and noticed that indeed, the Preface Sidebar is not present.
Let's see if Jeremy or Steph has the solution.
But anyway, at least this will get you the image.
Good luck!

Need it as a background image
Chris,
I had thought of that, but I'm looking for a background image behind the block that contains a bulleted list similar to the dark transparent style on the Acquia Slate demo. Is that what you're talking about?
Which Demo?
Is this the demo you're referring to?

I had been looking for a way to make this work just like you, this post made it happen :)

Set up Skinr rule
This can all be solved by setting up a Skinr rule.
How to set up Skinr rules?
LETernity:
How are Skinr rules set for Acquia Slate? I got the background to "sort of" display by creating a bit of CSS in local.css but it's far from a solution since there are several backgrounds one could choose from.
