Thanks for chiming in, Dan!... I sense a hint of sarcasm/rhetoric in your inquisitive comment =P (but no {sarcasm braces} so perhaps not...
I think there are more folks using Drupal around the area than meets the eye, and I want to find them (and help them find us!) and start setting up some mixers!
My Dad's favorite song was "Red River Valley", so my membership is perhaps as sentimental as it is about seeing what other folks are doing with Drupal. I live in Austin, and first saw Drupal at 2010 SXSW. I was so intrigued by the technology and the open source atmosphere that I then went to 2010 DrupalCon San Francisco. I have been drupaling ever since (well, as time has allowed), and my interests are in the programming aspects of Drupal. So - I hope you don't mind me listening in!
John - I suppose I could have clarified "of-the-north"!... when I set this up I was going for something openly regional. I suppose I could have also gone with "Lake Agassiz Basin" or "people who probably helped sandbag the flooding red river of the north in 2009 and 2010"!
anyhow, we're happy to have namesake lurkers, too ;) and I have a hunch a few of us may envy your proximity to sxsw!

A Drupal event in Fargo/Moorhead would be fun.
