Several Podcasts Bringing up Drupal

I thought it was worth noting that there are several folks in the accessibility community who are taking notice of the work that is being done with improving Drupal's accessibility. I wanted to mention a couple that I just ran into today (even though they are in some cases months old).

The WebAxe podcast #82 mentions the work we're doing here, especially with Drupal 7.

I did take a look at the new FireEyes plugin too and it looks pretty sharp. I think I still prefer WebAims but likely because it's just simpler. There's so much power by combining Deque's experience along with Firebug's power. The discussion was largely a nod to the folks at Refresh Detroit but also to enhancements in Drupal 7.

Was also great to hear Everett Zufelt's involvement in podcast #83 discussing the fate of Longdesc in HTML5. I've not had time to get involved in that debate at all. It was also neat to hear John Foliot who was good enough to come to DrupalCon in SF this spring and meet with several of us.

Joe Chidzik gave a brief review of Drupal's accessibility initiatives, including D7AX in their July podcast. I had provided them with a brief piece for their December 2009 podcast which I also described in my blog.

Finally Everett & I did a webinar for Canadians with a Disability - Ontario earlier this month and just today the video archive of the presentation is available. I expect we'll get links to the transcript shortly. In the mean time we've got the presentation & relevant links up here.

Great to hear, Mike!

Wow! That's quite a collection of podcasts on our work. I just listened to the podcast you and Everett did, and it came across very well. Everett gave one of the best overviews I've heard on the four concepts behind WCAG 2.0 — perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. I'll be sure to listen to the others when I have a chance, too.

Thanks for posting this collection, Mike. It's a great resource to have.

A New Piece in Web Axe's 5th Anniversary Podcast

Thought I'd update this with a small 5 minute piece on Drupal Accessibility I did for the 84th Web Axe podcast.

Great job!

Mike, that 5-minute piece is great! Thanks for doing that! I do think people who want an accessible CMS should take a good look at Drupal. As you said, Drupal 7 accessibility is far from perfect, but we have made a lot of progress and we have a "critical mass" of engaged people contributing. Thanks again!

Drupal 7 Accessibility: Why Bother?

Had to throw in the presentation I did for Drupal Camp Montreal - http://www.drupalcampmontreal.com/watch/mike-gifford-accessibility-and-d...

We really should be listing the audio/video resources that are available.

Agreed

Maybe some time when we don't spend all day coming up with stuff for elsewhere that just gets ignored in the end.

By the way, Mike, that is a great presentation. Thanks for adding the link here.

You put in a great effort!

I haven't seen the final, but do really appreciate the work you put into getting the wording of that right.

Can't believe it was going on for 2 months before any of our team knew about it though. Not sure how that happend.
