I have a problem with Panels 3.x
I have built a variant of a panel page, and want the variant to be used when a certain content type is used.
Normally this would be done using selection rules node:type

However I don't have the "node" option in the list now, I just have :
Context exists
PHP code
User: language
User: permission
User: Role

Any ideas as how I get the node option to appear in the selection rules list?

Any help is most welcome.

Ignore it

Ok so I'm a bit retarded today.
Forget that I asked the above question, and spare me the mockery of reminding me of this at barcamp 2010 :P.

I've had similar issues

I've had similar issues before and I have yet to understand completely how panels determines what options should be in the list. Something to do with what URL you are acting on, but even then it's not entirely clear to me - Sometimes you must override one of the system pages, you can't just create your own for the same path.

Ah yes, working saturday could be hard sometimes :). You have node:type only inside Node template page.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Dave yeah I'm in the same situation.

@Julien Yes indeed it can be :P, Luckily for me it all came back to me after a few minutes of keyboard bashing, hair pulling, and sounding like a dying animal. Funny how that brings back things one almost had forgotten.

However since I now fixed my problem of the node type I just wanted to say thanks.

Multiple Node Type Variants

dja5hx's picture

Hi all,

I have successfully created a note type variant for one content type I have created, which allowed me to have pages for that node type all with the same template. However, I am trying to do this a second time with a different content type and am not able to do so. I have tried using the node template to create another variant for this, as well as tried to create another page template and do it that way. I haven't been able to get anything to give me the "context exists: node type" again. Does anyone know how to create multiple node type pages? I have tried to search through the posts and haven't found anything, I apologize if this is answered somewhere and if someone points me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!
Dani

The same...

I have done this a hundred times over years and I went today and couldn't find the "context exists: node type" option. I'm using the freshly-reactivated node/% panel and it's just... not... there...

Did it move? Am I missing it?

EDIT: I found it - under Selection - just like it should be. I looked fifty times, cannot explain the confusion. Hmm.
