Drupal Help Needed

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I am the Chief Information Office for the Virginia German Shepherd Rescue. We are trying to move our web site from a MS based web host to a Linux based one.

I am hoping to use a combination of mostly Drupal and a few other Open Source packages to build the site.

My PHP programmer (who originally going to write the site from scratch) has just bailed on me.

We desperately need to get the site up and running in about a month.
I am looking for some one who can alter themes to match the theme we have created and help with the set up. We will also need about 6 forms created.

I can offer no more than my undying gratitude and if you are job hunting I will be very happy to write a reference...If you can help please let me know.

Thanks,
John

John,

I'd certainly like to help if I can. I'm not a themer, but can help build the site. Do you have a design slide or wireframe of what you'd like the new site to look like? How extensive are the forms? And can you clarify what you mean by "mostly Drupal and a few other Open Source packages to build the site." -- Drupal is very particular. If you want Drupal as the platform, that pretty much makes the decision for you. Thanks.

Hi John

Hi John,

(As a rescue-dog "parent") I'd also love to help if I can (if a second person would be helpful and not just in the way). And I second Dan's questions -- is your plan to switch from the downloadable PDF forms currently on your site (http://www.shepherdrescue.org/ or shepherdrescue.net, yes?) to webforms, or...? Are you planning to stick with PayPal for donations? Also I noticed there's a password-protected part of the site, for registered volunteers -- what is this part of the website like, how extensive is it, what are your needs for this part of the site?

Are you looking for a redesign or just moving everything onto a different platform? (And what hosting are you moving from/to?)

(Dan, you said you aren't a themer -- do you mean you don't really do design work or that you don't do theme building? I wouldn't recommend myself as a designer, but I do a lot of theme building and maybe could help with that, and/or whatever would be helpful if this turns out to be a more-than-one-person project.)

planning

John, Dan and Alison are asking good questions. I don't know how familiar you are with Drupal or planning Drupal sites but I have a resource that you might find helpful: http://planningdrupalsites.com/guide - just in case.

Focus on the requirements and design chapters. The more you know about how Drupal comes together, the faster you will be able to get the ball rolling.

Thanks. I am new to Drupal
