Hello there,
I run a simple french B&B directory (still under Wordpress but I am porting it to Drupal) and I can tell you that the main concern of all the B&B owners is "how I can optimize my site so that visitors can find me".
Therefore I suggest that in a future B&B distribution we provide a simple SEO tools to the owners + statistics. Even if it won't make any miracle, this would be of real added value to them.

Very true.
Careful use of the pathauto and nodewords module can help greatly in automating the URL and metatag management.
So 1 more module for the 'b&b distro'

Surprised no one has upvoted this (although when it was originally posted, gdo didn't actually have voting!)
This really is the key insight, although it bears mentioning that the sweet spot is really when UX & SEO align.
(Of course in the intervening years, that "simple B&B directory" isn't even on the web anymore...
