Panopoly 1.6 released for SA-CONTRIB-2014-054!
Hi Everyone!
Views 3.8 was released today to fix a moderately critical security vulnerability. You can learn more in the security advisory:
As you may know, we've been attempting to release a new version of Panopoly as soon as possible after a security release, so that you don't have to worry about security updates yourself - you can just update Panopoly!
That's why we've just released Panopoly 1.6. :-)

Are there any documented plans / road map for how the app store built in to the Panopoly distro is going to work?
Right now it has been hard coded with the message "CURRENTLY UNDER DEVELOPMENT" in the available updates section.
I'd like to push this area forward if possible as it something i'd like to make use of in a new distro based on Panopoly.
What's the plan (in any) ?

Hi Everyone!
I know that Panopoly 1.4 was just released last week - I'm sorry for so many releases so quickly. However, we've been trying hard to synchronize Panopoly releases with important security fixes so that your sites aren't left vulnerable.
This release has a couple of small bug fixes, but mainly, it includes an updated version of FAPE to fix a highly critical security vulnerability: SA-CONTRIB-2014-048.
From the security advisory (linked above):

Hi Everyone!
It's my pleasure to inform you that Panopoly 1.4 has just been released. :-)
Note: We skipped the Panopoly 1.3 release because there were some issues in one of our .make files that prevented Drupal.org from packaging the release. This release is functionally identical to what would have been released as Panpoly 1.3.
Here are the highlights of the release:
- Updated to Drupal 7.27 (a security release: SA-CORE-2014-002)
- Updated Media 2.x to a newer version for PSA-2014-001
- Upgrades of several other contrib modules to newly released versions
- The ability to manually crop images, either on image fields or inserted into the WYSIWYG editor
- ... and countless bug fixes!
Panopoly: Magical Mystery Tour
Hi all - I just joined the group cos @dsnopek reached out to me after submitting a session to DrupalCon Austin. I gave the talk at my local meetup, and then at our regional con - DrupalSouth.
Slides are here:
http://kattekrab.net/panopoly-magical-mystery-tour
I think there was an audio recording, but not sure if it's online yet - I'll cycle back here and edit if/when I can find what happened there.
I think Panopoly is a great distro - and it's exciting to see it being used as base for others to build on.
cheers

how to use existing theme with panopoly
Hi, I am new to drupal and panopoly but loving both so far!
I have panopoly distribution setup and working, but when I tried to install the bootstrap business theme (https://drupal.org/project/bootstrap-business) many of the styles are messed up, especially margins and other spacing.
I'm not even sure where to start to figure out how to fix the theme so that it looks like the business bootstrap demo site. Any general direction would be greatly appreciated!
Read moreHelp test new Panels/CTools before they're released
Jakob Perry (@japerry), was recently added as a new co-maintainer to both CTools and Panels. He's been working really hard to get all the RTBC patches that have been sitting in the issue queues finally reviewed and committed!
This is really exciting news for Panopoly, because sooo much of Panopoly's functionality is built with Panels. If development on Panels accelerates, that means we'll get to enjoy cool new features and bug fixes! :-)
The first new releases will be comming out in only 4 days, on February 5th soon (probably Feb 12th)! Together they include over 50 commits since their previous releases!
Let's help Jakob make sure that these new versions are as stable as they can be before release, by testing them out with Panopoly!

For better or worse (probably worse ;-)), I've been using IRC pretty often recently. Apparently, some Panopoly discussions used to take place in #drupal-panels - but there's a lot more to Panopoly than just Panels: WYSIWYG, Media, search, Apps, etc..
So, I've setup a dedicated channel at #panopoly!

Hi Everyone!
It's my pleasure to inform you that Panopoly 1.1 has just been released. :-)
Tom Kirkpatrick (@mrfelton) has written a excellent article on the SystemSeed blog about what's new:

If you want information about how to upgrade to the new version and the nitty gritty details about every change -- please see the release notes:

Read moreBasic instructions to upgrade Panopoly
I've been using Panopoly for a few months to develop a site in my spare time. I hadn't done any module upgrades since I installed it and decided it was about time I did, especially as there were a few security upgrades (I was at drupal core 7.22).
I naively started going through the modules using drush to update them but quickly broke my site (no panic, all nicely backed up, phew)! After a bit of googling, I came across this https://drupal.org/node/2067773 so I realised I should be rather more careful how I upgrade things.

Hi all,
Has anyone had success incorporating a search bar into their main menu? I thought about just positioning it with css, but the site is responsive so the layout would change as screen size did. I've seen this done on a number of sites but I can't seem to figure out how to do it the drupal way.
Thanks

Hi everyone,
Read moreMaking multiple default panel presets for the same content type
Hi all,
We are just starting a big project based on panopoly and there is an interesting issue I am struggeling with that I think we can all benefit from thinking about in order to make this awsome distro even more awsome.
Our client wants to have the ability to choose a panel preset that will define both layout and default panes when creating content pages. It is possible to have such default settings per content type, but in this case multiple presets needs to be developed so that the user can choose which one he wants to use for each specific content and switch between them.

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the Panopoly group. :-) I hope this will become THE place for all the people who depend on Panopoly to discuss and plan its future.
To start things off, I'd like to describe the state of Panopoly as I see it, talk about getting to version 1.0 and moving beyond into the future. Of course, this is all just my opinion -- feel free to share yours and disagree. At the moment, only @populist's voice carries any real power (but I'm hoping that will change soon - more on that below).
