Are You Going to Portland This Weekend?
I'm taking the train on Friday (Oct. 9) and returning early Sunday (Oct. 11) for Portland's DrupalCamp.
Is anybody else in Seattle going?
Maybe I'll see you on the train?
Let's try to coordinate.

We've picked some tentative dates for the next Portland DrupalCamp: August 22-23, 2009.
So scour your calendars and make sure there aren't any other big tech events that weekend. Obviously any date is going to cause problems for some subset of people but we want to make sure we're not up against another regional DrupalCamp. It'll be close to DrupalCon Paris but hopefully we'll still be able to draw in some other people on the West Coast.

Hi all. See the full version (click on "Read more") of this discussion for the planned program for our upcoming DrupalCampPDX. Comments and suggestions welcome. Those of you who volunteered for program please let us know ASAP if there are any issues with time slots. We tried to keep everyone who volunteered involved (please let me know if we missed you) and we tried to ensure that programming items on at the same time would overlap in interest as little as possible. However, we had 22 programming items for 10 slots and had to merge several items. Again, please let us know if our decisions trouble you. Also reply here if you want to change the wording for your panel or such.
Note that we are keeping most of the evening and one room open all day for traditional Camp-style programming and socializing. There are also a couple of other places where socializing can occur, most notably some picnic-stle tables just outside the conference center. With plenty to eat and drink we hope that this event will be useful in every way possible. Click on "Read more" to see Program.

We want as many of you as possible to participate in programming so please join the fun. A mix of knowlwdge and perspective adds value to programming.
Please remember that if you would like to be a part of formal programming then you need to update the DrupalCampPDX wiki before tomorrow night is over. Remember to add your names to existing items if you would like to be part of a panel discussion on that subject. We still need need more "lightening" programming items, though we will also have sign-up for these and other BarCamp style items at con.
Also, if you have already signed up and your talk/panel will NOT be an hour long, please mark it with your estimated time.
Thanks all,
Grant
Are you planning to attend DrupalCampPDX on Saturday, May 10?
State of DrupalCampPDX programming
So our DrupalCampPDX committee met tonight and many things were discussed. Many plans were made and many beers were drunk. Others will post soon enough I'm sure, but here's two IMPORTANT PROGRAMMING ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- If you would like to be a part of formal programming then you need to update the DrupalCampPDX wiki as soon as possible. We have to finalize our programming lineup soon, so we will be freezing the programming wiki in a week (Wednesday 2nd April). Thereafter we aim to present a tentative schedule to the next Monthly meeting one week later. Remember to add your names to existing items if you would like to be part of a panel discussion. We still need need more "lightening" programming items, though we will also have sign-up for these and other BarCamp style items at con.
- Those of you who have already volunteered programming items, we need you to edit the wiki and add an estimate of how long you think you need (30 mins, 45 mins, 60 mins, 75 mins or 90 mins). Better we don't have to guess ;).
Programming suggestions are still very welcome. You are all the ones setting the agenda. The evening will have casual discussions and ideas for programming are welcome. Anyone want to run werewolf or something like it? Other ideas?
Some other programming and related notes (subject to change):

So we are having our DrupalCamp on May 10th. One hell of a crowded meeting last night, so clearly DrupalCampPDX is something we as a group are excited about. Folks came from other parts of Oregon too, including one from Eugene, a sure sign that it's going to be a statewide event at the very least. I volunteered to organize programming. Of course I'm really a Joomla! spy, so get ready to talk a lot about Joomla!. Okay, okay, I'm kidding, no need to write a Grant_is_a_Sod_Bastard module.
A group of volunteers will soon be getting together and talking about programming and general organization and touring the available function space. This will give us a better idea what we can do with programming. Not surprisingly, given the name, you can expect to see plenty of BarCamp-style programming, but we will also have some pre-planned topics, many with a panel of speakers.
Of course programming content will not be determined by me, it will be determined by all of you. Our resident cheerleader drewish set up a wiki (thank you drewish) so please add your panel ideas there, and mention whether you are willing to join a panel on any panel ideas already listed. It's open to all of you so please chip in. We will be having some items where there will be 3 to 5 speakers (one of them a moderator), so feel free to add yourself to an item if you want to volunteer. Also add yourself if you are willing to present either lightening talks, lightening presentations or lightening demonstrations, all around 5-6 mins max, and timed. With enough interest we will group several of you together and make for a fun hour or two.
Please reply to this post if you have any general comments or ideas on programming that may not fit on the wiki.
Please also reply here if you're willing to help me with the organizational side of programming, as time is quite short. Drewish, you are involved by default I think ;) (and I assume you will be at the "Organizing Committee" meetings).
Thanks,
Grant
